Flight cancellations!! What happened to you?

Hi, the last two visits to Spain have been a disaster for me, both times our French friends have decided to strike and Ryanair have cancelled our flights home!

We usually fly into Liverpool but, no seats were available for over a week so, the first time we returned via Dublin, then had to pay for a flight back to Liverpool. The second time via Birmingham then a train to collect our car at the airport.

Is this a typical story or do others fare better with other airlines?

Our friend's daughter and family were due to return to the UK with Easyjet on the day of the Spanish general strike, and couldn't get flights until the Saturday.

I hope that you don't plan to fly to Spain on 23rd or 26th October, as we are flying to Newcastle for my nephew's wedding and  I don't want to miss it!

My daughter's flight was cancelled and Easyjet gave her an alternative and paid 250 euros compensation.
