When Ryanair pulled its Bournemouth routes for the Winter they promised "We'll be back in the Spring."
With the way M O'L does business I would assume there is a codicil to this; something along the lines of....'always assuming it suits us to do so, and always assuming Bournemouth Council, Dorset County Council and Manchester Airports (the Airport operator) cough up enough blood money (subsidies) to make it worth our while....
He pulled all the UK flights from Granada in a fit of peak when the local authorites wouldnt agree to his terms, he pulled Murcia flights because the local authority wouldnt cough up 11M Euros for contract renewal, he is threatening to pull services to Asturias as of January 2011 unless they cough up 10M Euros.
He runs his airline the way Stagecoach run bus services in the UK; move onto a new base, kill off the opposition and then wait for contract renewal and sting the autorities for every cent /pence/euro/pound he can; he doesnt give a rats-ass about the punters; it's not about bums on seats, he can run at 40% load factors and still make a profit; just as long as he gets his subsidies. When the subsidies stop so does Ryanair...
