Buying US Dollars
The Comments |
Anyone got a preferred outlet in the UK for buying US Dollars please? I can't use my usual exchange company as I don't have a US$ bank account. Post Office seems the best bet, but rates are quite low. Don't really want to buy in the airport and am wondering if it may still be of some benefit to use my Nationwide debit card out there (even with the new charges)?
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark you could try travelex on line a far better rate than you will get at the airport,, the exchange rate is better than the post office. Also you can have the money delivered to your home free or have it on a cash passport Prepaid currency card ) or pick it up at the airport. Pat.

Thanks Pat, just looked at them. Definitely better than the PO at 1.53 (Travelex) and 1.47 (PO). Gutted at how low the rate is at the moment, should've bought a few weeks ago when above 1.60!! Will probably book the funds and collect from Gatwick when we get there.
