Anyone else feel support and sympathy for the Almerian farmers who have lost so much due to reckless claims by the Germans. I have a place in the Almeria region I will still be eating produce from local farmers markets.

Eating local and supporting local farmers is very important, no matter where you live. Keep it up neatrees!

Yes have to agree we have a farm opposite our apartment and we buy their produce, which has just been dug up.
Cannot be fresher than that.

I think that it is outrageous that Germany seems to be getting away with wrongly accusing and naming a Spanish Producer without any scientific evidence. It seems now that the coffers of the EC are going to pay the compensation to all of the countries that were affected, which surely, means that each country is indirectly paying itself! Shouldn’t the money come directly from Germany who made the blunder in the first place?
It’s no deterrent to any country if they know that the EC will bail them out

Neatrees:
Who could not feel support for those unfortunate Spanish farmers who have had to destroy their crops. And, such a waste of good food!

This monring in the newspaper the germans were again pointing the finger at the cucumbers then by lunch time it was back on the German beansprouts and it seems that is where it is going to stay.
Small consolation for the Spanish farmers.
I hope the Germans make right with the Spanish farmers and not some token gesture.

In Morrissons today, half a cucumber 59p or £1 for two whole ones.
Sliced onions and cucumber in vinegar..mmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Yet there were still trays of whole cucumbers left!

Yes this will put people of from buying them, Tesco's had a lot of trays I noticed, so folks were not buying.
But I love bean sprouts but will be looking very carefully where they come from. But hardly think the shops will be receiving them from Germany in the current climate.

The good news for them though is that at least there's thousands of Brits in Spain who know what it feels like to lose their life savings through the incompetence of a foreign government.
