I believe the card must be authorised in the box in which you will use it , thus one from UK may not work,
A Sky card will work in ANY Sky box.
However, for the PREMIUM CHannels - Sky Sports and Sky Movies - then the card must be paired tot he box that it will be used in.
Some "non sky" boxes are able to read the Sky cards, but you do forgo the interactive / text and 7 day EPG options on these boxes, and are stuck with "now and next" information.
Also, with at least MOST Sky programs (if not all) you cannot legally receive them outside UK or Irish Republic.
It is NOT ILLEGAL to use a Sky card outside the UK and ROI.
It IS against the terms and condition of the Sky contract. If Sky know that the card is being used against the T&Cs, then they will terminate the contract and deactivate the card.
The difference being that using a Sky card outside the UK and ROI is a contractual matter between you and Sky. It is not against any law in Spain to use a Sky card outside the UK and ROI, so it is not illegal to use one in Spain.
It is also NOT ILLEGAL to watch the free to air channels (BBC, ITV, Sky News, True Movies etc) in Spain. Reception of free to air channels is perfectly legal. The broadcasters may not like it and so the BBC / ITV try to restrict viewing by placing their channels on a satellite with a "restrictive beam, but there is llittle they can do to stop you from receiving these FTA signals.
The only way you will be able to get a card for 1 week of Sky Sports is to find someone to borrow the card and box from for 1 week. No one will actiavte and deactivate a card for you for 1 week. And if they add the package to their card, then they must give 31 days notice to reduce the package, and you cannot do any changes to a package for 30 days after the last change (they say).
(Someone once said to me the customer is not always right, they just think they are right!)
