 Sun School in Spain.

Classroom / Teaching / General Assistant for Summer School 2012.

Sun School offers Spanish Children in the Age range of 8 to 16 years the ability to live in an English environment for a week in groups of up to 20 children, learning and speaking English for the entire stay.

The selected person will need to be available from Mid June 2012 for a period of about 6 weeks and be prepared to commit to agreed working hours.  Working times will vary but will be Monday to Friday only, in total about 36 hours per week.

Duties will involve helping with the teaching, organising sports and activities (including swimming events dependant on the age of the children) and generally helping out the host families.

Classes will be held in a small inland village, which has sports and recreational facilities and is close to motorways and train services.  Malaga and Seville are the local airports.

Requirements:

A good command of English, both written and spoken, (native preferred), the ability to interface with children between the ages of 8 and 16 years. A dynamic personality and self motivated person would be best suited to the task.

Some conversational Spanish would be an advantage but is not essential since all children are encouraged not to speak Spanish during there stay.

The ideal candidate should be 18 years of age or more on the 1st June 2012, however younger applicants will be considered.

Remuneration:

This is an opportunity for someone interested in teaching or working with children to gain valuable experience and a reference, whilst working in Spain during the summer.  Sun School offers the selected person a cash payment of 200 euro per week to cover all expenses whilst in Spain including any flights.

Accommodation (if required) will be available with an English family for the period at a cost of 25 euro per working week and this will include food during working times.

Applications:

Interested people, should in the first instance send a copy of there CV together with a letter outlining there suitability to sun_school@aol.com before 1st December 2011.  Acknowledgement of receipt of CV will be sent.

Interviews / meetings will be held in both the UK and Spain in early 2012.

Sorry, Cazzy.  I guess you were just being kind enough to let us all know there's a great job on offer. Actually, it's the sort of job I'd love but the fact that the ideal candidate should be over 18 but 'younger applicants will be considered' makes me feel I'm far too old (59). I'll just have to undertake that TEFL course I've been promising myself since I took early retirement from teaching here in the UK a few years ago.  Like many teachers in our system here...I was just too worn out to carry on!

Meggie

No upper age limit - apply if you want, They just thought it was more of a student job, as only short term and in the holidays. Are you living in Spain at the moment?

Not in Spain at the moment...but we (hubby and I) spend several months of the year there.  Although it's great not to have to do anything whilst we're there, I love the idea of teaching English to Spanish children.  I have been looking into the idea of doing a TEFL course and teaching English to Spanish-speaking children/teenagers.  It's something I've done before in England. It's also a great way of improving my Spanish! Where, exactly, is the job?
