i went prepared, did my research and chose a car in Barcelona the other day, the cars inland seem to be cheaper than where i live in marbella, so it was worth the trip to save up to 5.000 euros on a bmw mini Cooper s. There were a few there for sale priced similarly for their age and kms and i went with a garage who included the transfer and 1 year guarantee in the price.
on their website it says that all their cars are serviced and the car had itv sticker and certificate until 2013 - car belonged to his son and had been unused for the last few months.
Since driving the car home i have washed it and found evidence that the car was originally white, despite querying this with his son at the time - original white colour was confirmed when i located the sticker under the bonnet which reads 'pepper white'.
Today the oil service light has come on at -32000km half the total kms of the car which indicates that the car has never been serviced, i am now even doubting the authenticity of the itv....
My question is this - in Spain i BELIEVE you have 30 days after buying a car to denounce the seller and as i bought it from an s.l company i imagine that being denounced would ne something they would try to avoid so i am hopeful that if the car has any horror story - it will be in their interests to resolve things with me by either finding me another car, refunding some or all of the money or some other civilised negotiation. I would really welcome any comments, guidance and feedback on my rights in this scenario and what I am entitled to demand right now just 3 days after purchasing. The HPI check is still going through and should be available for the vehicle tomorrow, but I don't believe there is any financial debt on the vehicle - I am more concerned as to why they were not honest about the paintworl being blue and the sticker saying white.... Until I find out the full story I want to get as much info from you all as possible - informed is armed! Thanks in advance for your comments.
