Ok, so this was the coldest European winter, etc. But I'd like to prepare for a repeat. We hate the cold.

Am looking for INFORMED opinions on gas v. electric heating for a 2 BR Apt.  Our electricity bill was dreadful this winter.

Am thinking going to Repsol for bottled gas info for a Combi Boiler system. Also thinking of Clay based German electric heating.

Am interested in any relevant  experiences.

Complete lack of insulation & tiled floors are, I know, a factor.

But it's the heating systems themselves that I am interested in.

Tho if anyone has installed underfloor heating in their apartment (not house) I am curious too!

Fire away!

We installed a pellet burner this year, makes the house really warm, is programable and cheap to run.

We had underfloor heating throughout our 6-bed farmhouse in Mallorca and used reverse-cycle AC to provide additional heat in the winter and cooling in the Summer.

Worked well and was clean and easy to control locally or remotely via Internet.

REPEAT This is an apt. Dont think pellet burner would be allowed. But will check.

Cheapest and easiest option we found was a calor has fire type, and a nice big rug. Saved. Up a fortune this year after trying other methods. They can be rolled into any room and in our apt. If we leave bedroom doors open it warns them rooms up too. Good luck

Underfloor heating is all very well for the floor, but theres the rest of the room to consider, most Swedes love their underfloor heating but also have air conditioning. A VERY efficient way to heat or cool a room/house.

The modern air conditioning system works on a reverse cycle system, and the efficiency racio is approx. 3 X 1 (in laymans terms to make it easy)

Which means if you get 3KW you pay for approx 1KW or less, depending on the system installed & how it's installed.

Hopes this helps
