pension from Spain
The Comments |
I worked and contributed in Spain for a few years and so I get a small pension....or I did. The pension has now been held up and I asked my accountant to check why. They said they need a document to prove that I am still alive and still not married (or married -whichever??).
Does anyone know what this document is or where I can get it? I rang the 'International Pensions Centre' and they said its something called a 'Life Certificate' which has to be notorised to prove that it's definately me and that I am still alive. The Social Security say they do not supply this document. Can anyone help with any info on this please.

The document you are being requested is called "Fe de Vida y Estado" and it is exactly what you have described, a document showing you are still alive and what is your current marital status.
They are obtainable from the Spanish Consulates abroad and the Spanish Consulate can act as notary for the purpose of legalizing the document.
Contact the Spanish Consulate nearest to where you live.

Beat me to it. DWP UK also requests these from time to time from British pensioners living in Spain. Also called a "Certificado de supervivencia" (Certificate of survival) or Life Certificate in UK.
