Should my wife get medical cover based on my Social Security or her UK pension
The Comments |
Hello
We have been in Spain approximately 8 years and I have been paying Social Security all that time and so we are entitled to medical cover here.
My wife now receives a UK state pension and I believe wuld be entitled to medical cover here in her own right ( I believe the UK would be paying for it)
Can anyone tell me which is the best or correct option for her.

I would suggest you call the DWP in UK and ask them. You will then get an answer which applies to you in particular, rather than wading through the appropriate web page

It is best that your wife applies via DWP for medical cover in her own right, in the unfortunate event of your demise! That's what the DWP advised me.

Yes, beneifts/entitlements should be claimed in your own right if they exist, if not then clain as a dependant. We always checked dependants claims to see if their was any entitlement in their own right first and if there was then that had to be claimed and the dependants claim withdrawn.
