Cancelled SIP cards are now widespread. It does not appear to be UK Pensions fault; who continue to pay for the healthcare of SIP card holders.
No one knows why access is being summarily and randomly cancelled; speculation is rife and distress common. As a columnist I am receiving emails from anxious pensioners from the entire Cost Blanca.
I don’t know if anyone has thought this through. One assumes that hundreds of thousands of UK retirees may be at risk. Life in Spain would be impossible for them without healthcare access.
From today, the 20th, the provinces’ chemists will be unable to re-stock. They have not been paid for 12 months; collectively they are owed €500 million.
It is fair to say that most Spaniards, living or working within say 25 miles of the Mediterranean, would face disaster if there was an exodus of those affected.
