problem with web page

when i am on my laptop now and then i keep getting
an internet explorer web page jumping onto the screen
i close the window but sure enough it keeps popping up
again.
can anyone tell me how to get rid of it permanently.

What is your default web browser? IE, Google Chrome, Firefox?

I am a novice.so if you mean by default web browser the
one I normally use it is firefox.

At the top of the Firefox page is a box called Content. Click into this and then click the block popups button.

i have pressed the firefox logo at the top of
the page on the left hand side of the screen
but i cannot see anything that says content

You may have a newer version. In which case go to Firefox Preferences Content Click the "block pop-up windows" option. HTH
