Acer-Camposol could not have a president it is too vast, neither do we have such things as communal satellite dish, we all have our own,more like Goonhilly downs!

we have our own Mayor, and a residents association who together  raise issues with the Council, and sort problems( hopefully!)

Each sector has its own gardening and clean up group.

Issues such as subsidence, are being dealt with, and they are neither widespread or common, contrary to popular belief .

you are right in saying that Camposol would  be a nightmare for .a president.

I think anyone who moved to Spain for a peaceful retirement would be horrified to realise that such a burden could be placed on them, when they neither want it, or they're not up to the job anyway.

It's not something that is pointed out to them when they sign the contract, either, and not something anyone would expect to have to ask about.

I go there occasionally and I'm amazed to see what's been achieved.  I particularly admire your gardeners - the roses on the roundabout on A are fabulous, it must be a major commitment by some of your residents, but great to see.

But getting back to this thread, being President of a normal, smaller urb should not be a big deal, particularly if it's been reasonably run in the past.  If it's larger you might need a part time administrator.  I don't know but presumably as President you are entitled to decide this and appoint someone?

I guess when the HPA was enacted non-resident owners were few are far between, so perhaps some tweaking of the legislation is needed.  But as a principle I reckon if you sign a contract you should honour your commitment and if you were unaware of the possibility then that's your fault, no-one else's.
