Speaking from a personal view ,if I was you l would rent first to test the water ,it won't take you long to work out how much you and your partner will need to get by only you will be able to answer this .As you will be under UK pensionable age you will  need private health insurance and you mite have to pay tax on your private pensions, their are others on this forum like john zx that could help you will tax on your pensions good luck.

you will need a lot more to like the places you are lloking at as they are holiday areas, much less expensive  a little inland about 20 to 30 mins to the coast the properties cost less and the markets there are cheaper

Billie. be beware that the climate away from the coast can mean hotter summers and colder winters.  The difference can be significant.

Thanks for advice so far we appreciate prices are cheaper inland but do not want to be to isolated as want to make new friends and be part of community rather than a rural setting where we may have to drive to amenities rather than being able to walk to bars etc plan to get villa with pool so driving to beach is not an issue but would like to be within walking distance of buzzing town
