Car Scrappage Costs
The Comments |
As part of the purchase of our new place we've 'inherited,' an old citroen - we did initially have the idea to use this as a run-about but its in such a poor state we just want to get rid of of it. We've heard varying costs for scarpping a car in Spain could anyone give us an idea of what we could expect to either get (as in the UK) or for cost.
Many Thanks
BB

It may have changed, but I bought a new car 2 years ago and received €2,000 discount for the old car. It had been written off by a Spanish motorist who ploughed into the back of me, but it worked well for me together with the insurers pay out.
In theory I believe I should have paid income tax on the €2,000 but never heard anything. The garage I bought the new car from did all the paperwork.
Not sure if the scheme is still running, but I believe it only applies to new cars.

Are you near any Fire Station (estación de bomberos) as they take old scrap cars for practise on, no idea if they would pay you, in the least I would think they would do any legal paperwork needed for you.

You contact the local scrap yard they will collect the car and deal with the paper work for free. This is in Malaga province.

Well if you did want to go down the Fire Station route you are probably aware of the Station opposite Carrerfour Supermarket.
