Careful with your cases

Yes, Justin, very simple isn't it ? Very handy mind you if you've forgotten where you put your key or cannot remember your combination. A concern to us all however.
Wished we'd thought to do that when I accidentally locked our case with our flight tickets & passports in & the correct combination wouldn't open the case an hour before leaving our hotel in Malta a few years ago. We had to beg a screwdriver from a maintenance guy to get the lock off.

I wonder how well that would work on a metal zip, although most suitcases are plastic zips?
There was a report on TV last week that said theft of luggage had gone up by 80% in the last 12 months. They have attributed it to the hand luggage restrictions which don't allow certain items and only one carry on item. People are therefore putting their expensive items in the hold instead.

Back to topic..............
We wondered why so many people were having cling film wrapped around their cases when we were in Malaga airport last month. I guess once bitten.

My case was broken into when we came back from Dom Rep to Gatwick earlier this year. We'd got delayed getting to baggage pick up and the case was on the side off the belt, so not sure if it happened there or UK.Straight forward broken - and missing lock. We were really tired (long flight) and didn't realise until we got home. They taken a very ancient (first edition type) game-boy that we used to play on the beach. It was too much hassle to claim on the insurance have now invested in a lockable strap and also had intended to get some heavier duty locks but don't think that'll work now.
