Whew, it seems expensive for a 2 bed apartment though.

I'd only expect to get that for my 2 bed villa.

Low season  Jan / Feb / Mar / Nov / Dec, a week = £245

Mid season Apr / May / June / Sept / Oct, a week = £315

High season July / Aug, a week =  £385

Easter / Xmas min 6 nights stay £50 night

I think it is difficult to compare the two areas though.

I know my cousin's place on the Costa Blanca (Algorfa) is attracting a far lower price that we can expect for ours in Vera. I think you also have to take into account the size of the properties & also the facilities available on site & in the local area.

I did quite a lot of research across numerous websites, looking at local developments in Vera & noting their prices. Once I had the prices across all seasons, I averaged them out & set my rental prices. I guess it remains to be seen whether I have pitched the prices right or not.

Hello,

Just picked up on this one.

Sorry but have to disagree - no competition ...... Thalassa is a massive and very unattractive development compared to the one discussed below. Andalus Hill is much smaller and private with plenty of surrounding space (and nearer to the beach too!!!). Residential (on the Puerto Rey side) is also nicer by comparison although stil fairly large.

Quite a few of those that have bought on Thalassa are now having regrets and I noticed on another forum the build quality is not so good (damp problems etc)  - not an issue with Hill strangely enough. Another thing to consider is the sharing of the pool - pro rata there are less residents per sqaure metre of pool area at the Hill!!

Keymare' have admitted they made a mistake with Hill as they could have built another row of apartment blocks on the land used but hey ho, good luck to the owners who clearly saw a good buy!!

As for Costa Blanca it has to be said that Almeria is a much prettier, diverse and traditional Costa than the one at Blanca, which has become pretty ugly and highly commercialised (lived there for a while but glad we moved down the coast). Admittedly if you want burger bars or curry & chips with tomato ketchup you are less likely to find it on the Almeria coastline (fantastic though isn't it) - lets just hope it stays that way. At least no hi-rise tower blocks and the sea is quite a bit warmer down this coast - as is the climate (P:S: do you have an indoor pool??).

At the end of the day you get what you pay for - price isn't everything: location, quality of accomodation, fixture & fittings, track record, faclities etc, etc, etc all count towards the difference between a really good holiday or ... well just a cheap one in a not so nice a location!

Adios ....

I think if you read the previous posts properly there was no comparison being made between Hills & Thalassa apart from my comment about rental charges.

You say that many on Thalassa are regretting their purchase - where have you got your information? We have a community email list of over 90 owners who are all very happy that they have made their purchase, albeit some are frustrated by the delay in snagging issues being resolved by Key Mare.

Whether Hills or Thalassa is better is purely a matter of opinion.

I am sure that many owners on the Costa Blanca will take issue with your sweeping statements. I have visited the CB & haven't experienced any of the negatives that you mention.

I also guess that you need reminding that all was not rosy at Hills (particularly as a number of these posts were yours!!! )

December 11th 2007 - I am concerned at the condition of the indoor pool and bring to your attention a number of problems to resolve:-
The water temperature is too cool and certainly cooler than last year. One of the roof windows has been left open which allows the heating to escape and therefore a waste of energy.
Some of the edges around the pool are in a poor condition, these are sharp and therefore a danger to persons using the facility. Some tiles are missing from around the wall and pool floor.

Finally there is mould growing around the floor area of one of the showers.

As we pay a high level of community charge for the maintenance of our facilities at Andalus Hill, this situation is unacceptable.

November 1st 2007 - To start with I have reported the following faults with the indoor pool on 31st October.
1. The entrance door handle (long vertical handle bar on left side) is broken.
2. The hot water boiler is not working and the cupboard that it is housed in has been forced open and needs repairing.
3. A glass panel is missing from the entrance area.

September 22nd 2007 - have written to Marinasol (Sandra) to complain about the faulty (none functioning) irrigation system that serves Generalife, in order to water the ground-floor gardens. They do not seem to be aware of the problem so we will see how quickly they take action to resolve this problem - the grass of course will die off followed by the hedges if action is not promptly taken.

February 2007 - Has anyone had any issue with the supply of hot water from their boiler since acquisition of your property?
I've just had a guest return from a stay at our apartment stating that there was only enough hot water for one shower. Now unless they are extremely extravagant with their showers I can only assume there is a problem with the supply.
I know that the tank isn't up to running a full bath but generally speaking we have always managed to get showered without any problems.

March 2007 - has told us that some cracks have appeared in the master bedroom, with plaster swelling alongside. She raised it with Petra on our behalf last week, to get a response that they may have been caused by closing the patio doors too forcefully! On further inspection, there are matching cracks on the outside wall of our apartment, and also on the 'mirror-image' apartments at the back of our block.

March 2007 - On a recent visit to our top floor apartment a problem has made itself apparent. We experienced an annoying noise which we think is coming from the ducting/trunking within the roof space. As soon as we had the slightest wind a constant banging noise is set in motion and as the wind rises it gets worse. Has anyone at The Hill or other developments had similar experiences, if so we would be interested to know.

January 2007 - Our apartment  is one of at least 7 apartments that have had serious flooding problems on AA Hills since it opened. I don't yet know the cause of ours, but the others have been due to faulty connections under the floor of the bath.

In my original post, I was answering a specific point raised by another member - I was not advertising in my post at all. My website address appears as part of my signature which is allowed by the EOS forum. I also legitimately advertise on EOS & other sites & in almost 700 posts have never had anybody question my motives.

I have never had a post edited for advertising, unlike the first post on this thread that has now been edited by the EOS team.

Yes the posts are from another site & yes some are a year old & relate to snags & yes "Hills" is more established than Thalassa. With Thalassa being a new development, the issues that you have raised about damp are also snagging issues from the early days following completion - so where does that differ from the snag issues that Hills had?

You previously stated that Thalassa is a large & ugly development & again that is a matter of opinion (& I have not disputed anyones right to voice their opinion) & given that 85% of the development is sold, there are many people who would disagree with you.

As for pushing my explode button, nothing is further from the truth. I have amended the post that has obviously offended you so much, to prove that I have no need to "get one over on other renters" or "bump up my own game". However it is strange that only you have made that accusation, particularly when the EOS team are aware of this thread due to them making the earlier deletion for "Advertising".

I certainly  wouldn't wish to do anything against the EOS forum rules, so Justin, I apologise if I shouldn't have made the previous post.

Noreen

Noreen, no need to apologise, you've done nothing wrong, I don't see why anyone would think it's advertising in any way!!

Dave, I don't see the need here for nasty comments and I have removed them accordingly as they are totally against the forum rules.

Justin

Hi, I have sent a p.m to Justin to reply to his viewpoint.

Noreen ... thank you for editing your original post, no offence ever intended to you personally whatsover. It is easy to misinterpret dialogue, particularly when tongue in cheek satire is in play. Renting out is a competetive business and the thought that somone is trying to take advantage via the forums is a bit disconcerting, even though this wasn't your intention.

Good luck with your's!

Rgds,

Dave

Dave, I really don't see what your problem is.  Noreen is a respected member of Eye on Spain and your continued attacks on her good character are only making you look increasingly obnoxious.

I suggest you leave her alone now and move on.

As regards signatures, we have always stated that we are happy for people to put a link to their own business in the signature if they so wish.  This is standard practice with most forums.  What we don't want is people just posting adverts as that's not what this forum is about.  Give advice and information and if people like what you say they will click your signature link.

Please, enough is enough, you need to leave her alone or I will have no option but to ban you from the forum and I don't want to do that.

Justin

Hi,

My word I seem to have caused a bit of an issue here and apologies if my entry has sparked off these exchanges. I'm a bit new to this and didn't mean any harm by recommending the place we stayed at which was Al Andalus Hills. I think I have picked up the gist of the story and maybe I could offer a balanced viewpoint.

I think davehall has a point about advertising although I am unable to comment on what he said because of the editing; I am guessing that Noreens original reply has also been edited because there are no figures in the text(?).

We picked the location because of a recommendation to us and it is a lovely complex. We were very well looked after by David & Anita Baxter who live there. We are hoping to complete on the Veranda complex but have no intentions of renting so were happy to put in a good word for him.

It is true that taste is a m atter of opinion and by the same token discussion should be encouraged. Disagreements will of course happen but censorship sholud be used very sparingly unless insulting language is used (I am curious about what fishermen have to do with this?).

I have tried to read in-between the lines why the moderator has felt it necessary to do so, the last post by dave seems articulate andreasoned enough.  I  can't help but wonder if the fact that Noreen advertises with Eye of Spain is why Justin has seemingly taken sides? this seems quite impartial to me.

Having read you last post I wonder also why mine had the website address taken out. I was only offering 'advice' and not advertising or do you class this as the same thing?

I do hope this is now resolved and that everyone has calmed down.

My regards,

Mary
