That's rather an open question.  There are so many factors involved with moving abroad.  I'm not sure what sort of advice you're after.

However, here are the key points that matter (from our own experience):

  • Rent before you buy so that you get a good taste of the area
  • Have PLENTY of money in the bank.  You'll spend much more than you planned.  Plan to have enough to keep you going to 1 or 2 years whilst you find your feet.
  • 11 year old will probably need to go to an international school.  6 year old should be ok in local school
  • Sort schools out now, if it's not already too late
  • Don't take ANYTHING for granted (we had no phone line for the first two years)
  • Enjoy it!!!
Best of luck with your move.  If you have more specific questions then fire away.

Justin

thankyou Justin for your response and recomendations. We have everything as per your list so that is a good start.i.e 2 to 3 yrs money in bank, 11 yr old has place reserved at st georges int,.school,6 yr pld reserved at school in Anoreta.and we are veiwing 5 or 6 places to rent for 6 mths before we buy to make sure we like Spain and  area we wish to settle.

One question i have? my sons love football and tennis.what are the local football teams like?are there good opportunities for my kids to join a local club for there respective ages?and tennis also, the same question.

How would we go about joining such clubs. we are going to live around torre del mar,velez-malaga

Also how long have you lived in spain and have you children and what ages were they when you moved from the uk!!!

Regards

Mel

Hi Mel

Don't know Anoreta area at all so can't halp you with any club info.

I have twin daughters now aged six.  We moved out when they were two.

They are in the local Spanish school and seem very happy there.

Justin
