Bank transfer to Holland
The Comments |
Can someone help with this:-
I've sold my flat in Spain and my lawyer has just told me their bank charges a 5% fee to transfer the euros to my dutch account. This will be over 7000 euros. Surely this cannot be correct !
I have found about SEPA which say the fee must be the same as for a domestic transfer. What does it cost to transfer money between banks in Spain. Surely not 5%.
Please help.

I've been reading the thread on Spanish Banks and most people on there say that they had to pay 0.05% for international transfers. Some were able to negotiate it down but as you will be closing your account you may not be successful.
Please read all the threads on there to make sure I have read it correctly. If I am correct then print it off as verification and then start argueing.
There's also a thread in there on Spanish Banking Ombudsman maybe that will help you as well.
Good luck
Please let us know how you get on.

5% percent is a ridiculous amount. Try your credit card company, they do certain transfers too.
