We have been contacted by many communities and individuals wishing to get to the bottom of the current rebroadcast situation.
Whilst most are aware that these type of companies have no permissions from Sky, BBC etc, many companies claim to be doing this legally. According to the misistry of communications in Madrid, rebroadcast licenses are for point to point transmission - i.e in a straight line, which is not what is currently being utilised by rebroadcasters. As such permissions aside, they are in fact in breach of their own license.
Whilst many have paid for such a service, lost it, and then found recently some channels have reappeared - the situation is very much under review by a number of local town halls and a continued service cannot be guaranteed.
We do not recommend individuals take this course of action, as there is potential to lose any money invested in said service.
There are legal alternatives, for both communities and individuals, which offer a secure & legal ongoing service.
