Green Mould
The Comments |
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has found an answer to this one...
We have green mould growing on the walls of our bedrooms. It is on the outside wall that never gets the sun. The mould is also growing in the cupboards and also grows on all the babies soft toys and also all the clothes and shoes. Even the wooden shelves themselves are furring up!
We heat the lounge with air conditioning and I have placed de-humidifyers in the bedrooms which are collecting water but still the mould grows. I have removed the moud with neat bleech but it comes back in a week. Do i need to keep a window open all the time or somthing? Or do I need to keep them closed and heat the rooms 24 hours a day?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Eva,
Sorry to hear about your problem with damp/mould/condensation or whatever is causing your problem. This seems like just the problem that John of 'Costadelazaharbuilders' can help with.
Take a look at the 'navigation' strip near the top of this page and 'click' on the 'search forums' box.
If you type 'Costadelazaharbuilders' in the 'Member Search' option you will find lots of posts by John. One of them might actually deal with your problem. Also you could send him a private message via the 'PM' facility. If you have only just joined the forum you will have to make a few more posts before you can access the 'PM' facility. You could also ask Justin to allow you access by putting a message on the 'FORUM HELP' thread.

Spray with 25% bleach (40% chlorine bleach concentration) and 75% water. Spray on wall and leave it, do not wipe it as you release spores in to the atmosphere..........you may see dirty runs down the wall, don´t worry these will disappear....within 30 minnutes normally. If it does not clear after first application do it again.
For the toys etc suggest dunking in water and a weaker bleach solution (use the bleach suitable for cleaning water to make it drinkable)

Hi all, thanks for the helpfull replies.
Currently, we are bleaching every week, as well as having many dehumidifiers in the rooms, I have also painted the inside of the cupboard with anti humidity paint.
A few people were telling me that it takes anything up to 10 years for a new house to totally dry out, is this true?
