Buying Currency for US holiday
The Comments |
We will be going to the USA in September for 3 weeks holiday. Checked with Bankinter today what their charges were to buy US dollars (cash) and they informed me it would be 2% - ie. 1,000 euro into dollars would cost me 20 euros.
Does anyone know a better way to do this? We have thought of using our Bankinter Visa card to pay for hotels, meals, etc. and also to take Euros cash to change over when we get to the USA.
Any ideas how we can do this better?

Hi Fred - thanks for the info, but we now live permanently in Costa Blanca.
We went into Cam Bank and we can buy US dollars with a commision rate of 0.2% - a big difference from Bankinter at 2.0%. The exchange rate on the day when we enquired with Cam Bank was the same as we would get from Bankinter. Do not need to be a customer of Cam Bank, we just have to take our passports when we do the transaction.
