Guests left stranded at Almeria airport!!
The Comments |
A guest of ours has arrived today after flying into Almeria airport and booking car hire for 3 days. Our keyholders have just told us that there was no car for her at the airport and she had to get a taxi which cost her €80!! That is how much the car hire was going to cost for the 3 days!! Luckily we have nice enough key holders that have offered to take her back to the airport on Tuesday.
Can't put it on the Murcia thread or Auriga Crown as I don't know who she booked with. I do know however it was a Doyouspain booking made on Thursday of this week

If you book a hire car through one of the hire companies or their agents and have a confirmation sent to you, if on arrival, there is no car available are you entitled to some sort of compensation? I have seen this problem on the Murcia thread and it's disgusting the way we are fobed off by all those concerned.
regards.

It was reported recently here and UK - that the economic down turn / weakened tourist market, has caused many care hire companies Globally and especially Spain to NOT buy / replace new vehicles causing a general shortage of supply !!
I guess we just expect and are used to everything being 'there' when ever we need it !!
Really, we now have a shortage / loss of car hire, property agents, flights, builders, companies going broke... but we still have the SUNSHINE !!!!!

but we still have the SUNSHINE !!!!!
But that really isn't any consolation to a young woman stranded in a foreign country with an 8 year old child and 2 suitcases!!!
These companies really shouldn't be accepting bookings that can't be fulfilled. I have aready tried to start the process for her on how to claim back excess expenses. Claire, if you are reading, your input would be appreciated.

Glad to know DYS still rate good old fashioned customer service. They have still not responded to emails sent to them about this incident and even Claire hasn't bothered to respond to her PM .
Not a happy bunny and an even unhappier guest
