Hi

Can anyone recommend  reliable broadband installers around the Benalmadena area please, so that I can get a few quotes?

Thank you and happy new year!

From my experience, the only 'reliable' broadband installers would be Telefonica

I have to agree.  In my experience Telefonica were an awful company but lately they seem to have got their act together a bit.

We hear too many horror stories about other suppliers so at the moment I would say stick with Telefonica.

From a Spanish landline dial 1004 and say "English" when the auto message starts.  You should then be diverted to an English speaking operator.

Hi there,

I live in Campo Mijas and have lived there for nearly 11 years now and have always had a terrible relationship with Telefonica and broadband and in the end decided to have Broadband installed by Y-Internet.com.  Have a look at their website, fantastic service from installation to present day, they even offer "free internet" to urbanisations.  Hope this helps

You are very lucky if Telefonica is getting there act together.

6 years ago,our village had new pavements put in and before they were laid the ducting was installed for Telefonica to get in the fibre optic cables and they made an announcement to the press that the whole village would have broadband within 6 months. That was 6 years ago.

When my brother bought the house next door they told him that he couldn`t get a landline as there was no pole nearby. We phoned back and told them that there was a pole in my garden with my line coming in.Oh ! they said,we`ll send the engineer back again..

Both of us have our broadband from Iberband. Not the fastest but fairly reliable.

We used to use Iberbanda but in our area the transmitter soon became satuarted and our connection speed plummeted, sometimes grounding to a total halt.

Maybe they have sorted these problems now.

However, Iberbanda is a solution particularly for those that can't get a landline and have the transmitter in line of sight from their home.

I am using Iberbanda at the moment, but am possibly going to Vodafone. They arrange the installation of the phone line and you pay them one monthly fee. A woman on our urb (not in your area, so check) has a 6mb connection for 29.90€pm

There's a price comparison website for Spain, www.mybestoption.es which compares services such as ADSL, insurance, electric providers etc. Doesn't feature any cute meerkats, but possibly quite useful anyway?
