If Vodafone or any company are not responding to your phones and faxes you have to Buro fax it. Its the spanish of registered post by fax. Costs about 3 or 4 euros from any postoffice. Any lawyer will tell you to do this.
So when you stop paying and they take you to court all you have to do is present the buro fax to prove you cancelled within the criteria on the date. And they lose. Very simple. But most Brits dont know this so the companies are pushing thier luck. After all one months paid by a percentage of the customer base is a lorra lorra money. Telfonica did it for years.
The phone companies are known for these tactics so the local ombusman will give you the correct number at most Ayuntamientos.
Well we all know why Vodafones profits are up dont we! And remember the Spanish Vodafone is just a franchise not direct with Vodafone, every country is independant.
3 years ago this use to be a regular problem with all the phone companies and a law was passed that once you have sent the fax to the correct number you contract is deemed cancelled. This was because exactly this situation was happening and the companies particularly Telefonica were making loads of money.
I am sorry I cant now remember the number but it works when I cancelled my lines. However you can go to the local ombudsman which you should find in your local ayuntamiento and they will happily give you the number. I am sure it is one number for all so if anyone can get it post it here. I am sorry I am no longer in Spain.
Before everyone just changed thier bank accounts.
Incase you havnt found anywhere yet try the mag female focus or the CostaBlanca news, the both carry adverts for local rental. I reccomend Polop area, its a very friendly vilage you could go in the two bars in the Plaza , El Cau and La Font and someone might know of somwhere there, if not both will give you fine food and you will make really nice friends. I have just moved away and miss it!!
I noticed on the last newsletter The STM group giving out scaremongering info on the QROPS scheme through NewZealand. This is not true. The QROPS (Qualifing Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme) scheme is an HMRC approved scheme.
My husband works in this industry and what has actually happened is that recently there has been an investigation team set up to combat any abuse of the QROPS scheme. So anyone who wants to release thier pension using New Zealand (it has more tax benifits than using Isle or Man or Guernesy etc) to release thier pensions can still do so when they want, as long as it is with a good company.
