In view of the recent fires here in Costa Del Sol there is a FacebookGroup dedicated to safety and information called Local Fire and Weather Watch https://www.facebook.com/groups/182595055209114/470623596406257/?comment_id=470661966402420¬if_t=like
We are campainging to get Chinese Lanterns banned as they pose a terrible risk of starting fires if landing when alight, however a local Council is refusing to stop the release of some 500 of these for the Full Moon ceromony.
Today is the day when the Luna Llena Fiesta is to be held on the beach in San Luis de Sabinillas, Manilva in the far west of the province. The significance of this fiesta is that as I write this update, we as a group have had no reply from our communique via a third party to the Ayuntamiento de Manilva and its councillor in charge of Tourism, and of all things, the Environment, regarding our concerns that, according to reports, 500 Chinese Lanterns are to be set adrift as part of this event!!!.
Do you, as we do think they should be banned across the whole of Spain at this time of the year? If so join the group it covers most of the South of Spain as well as the Baliarics and Canary Isles.
It would be interesting to hear your views
