yeah but that could be to long if you needed an emergency plumber or electrician, especially for overseas property cause they are usually holiday lets

the deposit they said was for emergancies cause it takes so long to transfer funds if somthing happens and i can kind of agrre with that as im in a position that i dont want to have to deal witht he day to day running... my agent in london holds a 300 pound deposit on each property as well....you can always use the owners websites but they take to much time to manage and the rental returns arnt great
