Hi
I am a property owner in Duquesa Village and have just been reading through the minutes of the latest AGM in particular the pool wristband issue.
It is totally ridiculous to allocate specific number of wristbands to apartments. The system worked well last year but they are suggesting a limit of bands per apartment this year. E.G we are a family of 5 in a two bed dwelling yet we only are allocated 4 wristbands. We are also told to ask a neighbour for theirs if you have guests. Preposterous !!
any thoughts as I have expressed my total dissatisfaction with the management company.

Hi
Couldn't agree more, total nonsense. Who is it to decide that only four people are allowed to live in a two bedroom apartment and that your relatives can't visit the pool with you when they visit. So what to do about it?

When considering my appeal about wristband numbers can you please consider this.
Dozens of people are excluded from using the pools because they are in debt
If they had all paid and could all use the pools what would happen then?
Would two bed owners have got 2/3 and 3bed 4/5
just one of my e mails to the community office
please e mail to ask for change this is not good at all
thanks

It was an issue rasied at a previous AGM / EGM that those present or represented voted on. It was not an item on the agenda so came out of the blue.
One approach is to get the item on a future agenda and another proposal considerred and voted upon.

I am not a fan of this rule. I have a 2 bed and have 3 children. On the odd occassion my brother and his wife plus 2 kids come over to see me. Last year was fine. I paid for extra bands but after this years AGM its not allowed. The only people who attend these meetings are those that live there. A large amount that live there do not loke the busy periods of July and Aug so this rule suits them. I fully agree that those that fail to pay their community fees should be barred as that is fair. I also agree that if everyone paid their fees and used the pool then what would happen. I will attend the AGM next year if possible to defend the right to use the pools for those who have them as holiday homes and are not permenantly living there.
What do I do now when my brothers kids come to us for the day and want a swim. Borrow my neighbours bands. How bloody stupid.
Last year the security guard patrolled the pool. He brought his wife and young child in occassionaly. This year should I ask them for their bands and then ask them to leave. Makes me feel mean. If the pools were so busy that you cannot get room to swim and no beds are available then maybe but they are fine. Overkill I think. I bought this to enjoy the sun and see me family enjoy it. If we are going to act like this then maybe I will find another community to live at.

Yes they are.
Our friends were asked for bands on Friday.
They produced the green bands we had, to be told that they needed red bands!!
They have to pick them up from the management office in the port on Monday,
after we have sent an email confirming they can pick them up
Why have new bands each year?? Ridiculous.

The whole thing is ridiculous and a waste of time, money and effort
it appears it was voted for by year round stayers in the main who of course attend the agm in larger numbers
there were enough pools for the apartments presumably so capacity is not a problem is it
it could be that this can't be overturned but I for one will be lobbying for it as it just doesn't make sense
also it appears to be linked to selfishness masked as an attempt to keep the outsiders visiting the pools from coming in

Before the introduction of the wristbands, many people from outside came just to use the pools! It was a REAL problem. They would just walk or drive in - even an ex-renter stole the entry fob and came to use the pools with her family all the time!! Now, with the wristbands and the checks, this problem has been dealt with.
I don't understand why, this year, they have limited bands and no guest bands being issued - have no idea why this was agreed to. Last year, with you being able to buy guest bands, this worked fine. Maybe we can just say that we've lost our bands and buy some more? Then, this is obviously something that should be brought up at the next meeting again. I think the bands are a good idea, but you should be able to have guest bands too, as per last year.
Regarding your voting rights - you can appoint a proxy and many do. This is not something that has been voted for just by owner residents.

Red bands are more durable than the old green bands as you will see.
I thought you could request guest bands , has that changed?
My daughter is there now and she saw non wrist band wearers around the pool. I am making AEA aware the more checking is required.

Before encouraging more checks consider this please
befire I bought a rule was brought in that restricts me to 4 bands with no option to buy anymore
i have three children and a wife so next month I will be one of those non band wearers
if you think it's fair that I am challenged then so be it but I don't ?

Actually, the rule that restricts two bed apartments to 4 bands was brought in at this year's AGM (I believe after you bought) - last year we had the option of guest bands. I don't agree with it and don't know why there is no option for guest bands this year, very strange. But it was decided by a vote and that's it - bit like Brexit!! Personally, I would just say that you've lost one or two and buy a replacement - I think they are charging too much at €20 each, but if there is no other choice .....

I have just returned and got the bands from the security office after having to provide my passport number (like i did before at the AEA office).
There is a man that (I think who is now employed......was this in the minutes?) who walks around and checks the bands. He seemed to do this often. There were people around the pool without bands but did show them when he went round challenging people (myself included).
I dont agree with the bands but feel yes people did abuse it when famillies drove up and got out at the pools. But surely if the security was better then they would not be allowed in.
Anyway, i do not wear mine but always have it in my bag like others. So whilst they are using the pools without they might just have them on them. Hope this info helps.
