Hi, I have looked at the other posts and cannot find anything so hopefully this is in the right place.
We have a 2nd floor apartment and want to swap with someone in the same block on the ground floor, the apartments are of equal value so no money will change hands.
Can anyone advise what taxes and charges we might incur if we decide to go ahead with this?
Thanks

Quite simple, exactly as normal, you are selling yours and buying theirs and visa versa. Spanish law and taxes does not exempt Noel Edmonds swap shop or get me out of here.
Is this a stunt post?

Hi, no this is not a stunt post, we are discussing the apartment swap and know we will have to comply legally, but just wondered what costs there would be to pay as there is no money changing hands. All we are basically doing is changing the names on the title deeds.

Shouldn't you be asking your questions with your trusted lawyer or solicitor, surely they are in a better position to have the correct legal answers.

Hi, yes of course we will, we just thought someone on here might be able to give an insight before we take this further legally.

Why not one of the parties change their name by deed pole so you are both the same, then do nothing, just move apartment.

Rumble. You do not say why you want to change apartments. It will incur transfer taxes, legal fees, property registration etc. If you both just prefer to live in the other property why not do just that. If you subsequently decide to sell up then you can move back and sell
PS In Spain one cannot change their name without the approval of a judge. Deed poll is just a method in U.K. of registing that you HAVE CHANGED YOUR NAME by common law ( that is what many women do when they change their name upon marriage. There is no law which says they can change their name, but there is also no law to say they cannot, so doing so is not illegal ) or by statutory declaration before a magistrate

I assumed Rumbletum was a Brit, so they can easily change their name in the UK to Garcia or whatever. Whenever they renew their passports they will have their new names. They will just have to plead the Notary got their DOB wrong at the time of purchase due to his usual long lunch and 3 bottles of wine.
