IBAN discrimination is apparently illegal, but it is down to the banking entities to inform their customers in the change of requirements for payments to be made.

Saw this post that says Transferwise is still having direct debits taken as they use a BE IBAN.

There are many other ways to pay for your purchases. For example, it seems to me the most convenient in modern conditions is a credit card. The credit card is mainly intended for non-cash payments, and the bank often assigns a certain percentage for cash withdrawals. If there is a need to use cash from a credit card, it is better to choose a card with the ability to withdraw money for free. If you live in Canada, I can recommend the site greedyrates.ca; you can learn about the best credit cards and choose the best option for yourself.
