Diary of a Nobody

I've lived in southern Spain for over 16 years. I like to write/blog. It occurs to me that many of my articles are like a diary. So, from now on this is where I shall post my diary entries.

My "Spanish" Journey

"If you switched from French or German to Italian, Russian or Spanish, we could make you a lower offer." So started my "Spanish" journey aged 17 and which has still not come to an end 58 years later.

I was at interview for a place at university to study languages when Professor Juan Sager made me this offer.

I chose Spanish and in that moment my journey commenced.

I was born in the West Country of English and Welsh parents. I studied languages at university, was a teacher, school adviser, Ofsted inspector, translator. Now retired I dabble in lots of things, including interpreting and translating, journalism, house renovations and property sales.
