I would not trust the plans provided by Arenal. The scale on them is not accurate. On our set of plans the room measurements are not listed only area in square metres. On the plans the shower tray measures 900 x 900mm, when we visited our apartment in December the shower tray was just under 600 x 600mm, too small for adults. The plans are misleading which makes the apartments look bigger. The same applied to the living room measurements compared to the scale.

On a positive note, the kitchen appliances were all German, worktops granite, marble floors, etc. giving the apartment a luxury feel.

Toryboy69 I agree with you, I was suprised to see the size of the shower trays, its fortunate there is a shower over the bath. Are you also aware that Arenal have opened up a furniture shop (Retier) oppersite Tivoli which is reasonably priced and they offer furniture packages as well as dressing the apartment also.  I have had a good deal with them.

Hello all ... has anyone any update on Phase 4 Block 6 ... last heard completion March 07.

Also worried on getting building insurance - how can you have building insurance for one apartment - building insurance surely has to be for complete block to enable rebuild or problems encountered and then that building insurance split between all apartments - ......... building insurance is surely useless for individual apartments as all walls floors ceilings etc are not owned but part of overall building ?????

Contents insurance and mortgage protection  insurance yes ... please can someone explain the logistics of obtaining individual apartment building insurance.

I have recently heard from Arenal that block 4. phase 4 will be ready around April, May.  They have only just started processing blocks 1-3 on phase 4 and I believe people will be moving in around March!!  This will have implications for block 6 also.  People should also be aware that when you recieve your parking spaces and storage rooms they may not necessarily be in the same block as the apartment. A friend has purchased on phase 3 and her spaces etc are 5 mins walk away in another block on phase 3.  I was also suprised to see how big the complex is overall and hope this doesnt take away from the exclusivity and end up like a concrete jungle but time will tell when it has finished and the complex becomes established.

You can ask Arenal for a printout that will hi-light your parking spaces. They gave us one of these when we visited in October as we had this concern. I think you will find on phase 4 that all parking will be beneath the block as each block has two or three levels of parking. I only wish our apartment was as big as the parking spaces!

We also thought the development was very large,more like a housing estate than an exclusive retreat.

 

You could always convert the storage space to an extra bedroom :)  I am hoping to draw on rentals to pay for the mortgage and was hoping to get the apartment furnished before April as I believe there will be a few teething problems and a lot of organising in respect of furnishing the apartment. Cant wait till it is all over and I am sat on my terrace (ground floor) with a G& T watching the world go by.  If anyone in the further blocks are looking to rent whilst their apartment is going through completion, let me know as I am taking bookings and have designed a web site.

Our friends who are buying in Block 6 Phase 4 have heard yesterday from MRI (Mcanthony Realty) who they are buying through that their apartment will not be completed for up to 8 months (no exact timing  given).  They have been told that a lot of MRI clients are seeking compensation from Arenal due to the delays and they are going down that route.  Has anyone received any letter or commuication from Arenal 2000 direct stating that their apartment would be delayed and when the estimated completion would be?    We have bought direct from Arenal and have not received any official notification from them, or any other communication since first viewed in June 2005. Our lawyer had to go to Marbella to sort out the contracts and thats the last we have heard from them. After they had our money we haven't heard from them. When we were there in October, the sales office staff were very unhelpful and really did not want to talk to us.   It seems the only way to get information is through this site.

Any news would be welcome,particularly Block 11.

I was at block 4 today and although there is no access to the apartments at the moment, the work is progressing well and i think that it really should be ready for June. So dont despair!.
