Hi all,

Could someone who is resident in the resort tell me if any new roads have been put in place to link HR to San Javier and Murcia? Last time I was there it was a rather windy narrow affair.

Also is there any update on the new airport at Corvera? I heard 2009, so that probably means 2012. And If Polaris are assisting the runways will be completed in 2012, with the control tower to follow by 2015 before it is fully operational lol!!!!!!!!! Seriously though that new airport will mean more access.

Finally, there used to be a railway line which ran behind the old HR entrance. Is the line still there and active?

Its looking like July for our signing so we should be out July / August for a couple of weeks to ensure utilities are on (hahaaaaaa) furnish etc. See you soon.

Cheers,

Ken n Shell

Kenny

They are building a new road from the top of the hill out of Sucina (Where the big cross is) down to Hacienda Riquelme.

To get to HR you need to do  a left after the petrol station in Sucina, its signposted Hacienda Riquelme.

Apparently the budget for Corvera airport has been approved and construction to commence soon. Also San Javier airport is getting a second runway next year so that will allow more flights and morning flights as well.

The railway is still there and is active although you cant catch a train yet from Riquelme station even though they stop there ocassionally. HR owners need to ask for this service as it would be great to catch a train to Murcia or Cartegna.

Cheers
Mozz

Hi Kenny, with regards to the Railway, yes it is still there and many trains pass through the Requelme station.but do not stop
The talk is that Polaris are to fund the refurbishment  of the station so residents would be able to travel from Requelme to Mercia.

The road from san javier to Mercia via Sucina. is what I think you are talking about, remains the same. From San Javier to
Sucina section which I find quite fast, and would like a pound for every time ive used it.The Sucina to mercia  Ive only used once and
I noticed all the roadworks being carried out, especially in the mountain area had been completed, since I was here in January.

Im afraid I know no more than you stated regarding the new Airport ,but it would give more choice of flights when completed with or
without polaris help.LOL.

Changeing the subject, Since I came here in April I have walked all over the course nearly every day as a form of excersise,as well as an enjoyment
Always keeping to the buggy trail.Today I was stopped by a member of the Polaris Golf Staff, and told I could not walk round the course unless it was
before 8,30am and after 9.30 pm.any more.

I did not spend thousands of pounds to only look at the course from my balcony,so I shall continue to do the walks..He stated that this is the rules
as I am not insured and could get hit by a golf ball,How does he know what insurance I have.I was absolutely livid. I would like your comments
on this matter please.Does it mean that if Tiger Woods and Co came here you could only watch from your balconies.

Lennie

Polaris own all the golf course areas...it is private property not community property...I'm afraid you didn't buy any part of that...so they have the ultimate say on that one.  The golfers are insured for any accidents to other golfers only as they pay an insurance as part of their fee...and to property. ...but as we all know, golf courses are very dangerous places and if you are not playing then technically you are 'tresspassing' so not insured whatever insurance you have it is not valid. Its good to see they are marshalling thier areas. Outside of the designated golf times then there is not a real problem, which is presumably why they have start/finish times quoted to you.

Hi Lennie

I sincerely hope we are not prevented from walking along the paths.   As you know, we completed in November and have not yet had the time to walk anywhere on Riquelme and this was something we were looking forward to next week.      Not sure why they are quoting the magic hours of 8.30 am and 9.30 pm as, although we are not golfers, I'm sure keen golfers start a lot earlier than 8.30 am .....so would Polaris' insurance cover us outside of these hours then or did the gentleman just pick these times out of a hat???   We need input from the golf pros out there on this issue.

Was I right in assuming that the road coming into the resort might look like the dual carriageway that runs right up to the El Valle entrance?   i.e. with Palm trees running along the middle?

Can't wait until next week.

Lin

I'm afraid it's the same on La Torre and all the other resorts. You are not permitted on the buggy paths unless you are playing.

Whilst staying on LT, I've seen parents with young children walking along the buggy paths during the day when the golfers were out.

I wonder what they would have said if their children were hit by a mis-timed shot?

I've hit plenty of errant shots myself and still do!!  I can see the logic and sense of this ruling.

Cheers Moz, all

Lennie I can understand both arguments for having a walk or not around the course if you are not playing. Last time I was out I noticed a path running around most of the perimeter of the golf courses, is this the buggy path you refer to? Tough call, but I think Polaris will win that one if they own the courses. Having said that it wont stop me wandering around lol.

Good point about the railway line. We should definitely push PW if we can to refurb and get the trains to stop at HR. This will be a massive plus point for the resort and especially those for guests / residents without a car. I also think I am correct in that from Murcia and Cartegena you can get a connecting train to almost anywhere in Spain!!! Superb.

Ken.

I have been hit badly by  golf ball in france whilst playing and walking on a buggy path green to next tee. The path is an integral part of the golf course included in the rules, free drop. It is a golf course not a country park and can be a dangerous place to wander.

Whilst most golfers now have private insurance, its no substiture for causing an accidental injury to an innocent wandering party. I completely support PW in this instance. along with most other courses. Common sense must prevail.

best regards
Graham
