Should have posted on here before really.

We are actually buying a property at Manilva Heights ourselves.  We currently own one next door in Nueva Manilva so we literally see Manilva Heights every day.

As you probably know the development has been finished for some time now.  There has been a problem with the issuing of the licence due to the fact that the facilities around the development have not been completed, namely, electricity, water and roads.

A couple of weeks ago the licence was issued for the first half of the development.  This covers houses 1 - 49 if I remember right.  However, since that time there has been no movement at the site so no-one has yet completed.  The delay is now with the builder in getting the first half sorted in terms of signing the escritura.

Now, the bottom half of the development still has no licence.  There is a major issue with the bottom road so I think it will take months before the licence is granted for those.

The whole area is also very unfinished.  Give it 2 or 3 years before the area begins to resemble "a place in the sun".

Justin

Thanks justin your reply was a big help.  I thought I recognised the houses in the background of your picture.

We are actually in number 26 at last.  However, there was no water or electricity so we had to go on builders supply.  The electrics wouldn't work downstairs so we had a private electrician look in to it and he found that the electrics were dangerous.  Live wires were connected to neutral, wires were left inside the walls uninsulated, and a socket wasn't even connected, the outside electrics to the terrace lights hadn't been  wired properly, the garage door remote wouldn't work, the snagging list hadn't been completed and they wouldn't give us the A/C remotes until I signed a document and produced my Residencia.  Once we got them we found that one of the A/C units doesn't work on heat.  When the recent heavy storms came our main bedroom was flooded because the middle terrace drain, above the bedroom, hadn't been sealed so the rainwater seaped through the ceiling and down the wall, which now has black mould on it.  I'm so glad we came here for a stress-free life!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Adrian , just seen your story of moving into 26 Manilva Heights. We are hopefully getting our keys for ours {55) in May.We came to see the progress last week and was pleasantly suprised, but reading your tale of woe dampens things,(excuse the description). It all looked really good, we were down with the developers who said about doing a snagging list , it looks like we are going to have to go through it all with a fine tooth-comb ! Interesting to see your story though. regards Nick

All done!!!!!!!!!!  After calling everyone we could think of e.g. solicitor, our own private builder, site foreman, manager of the show-flats, etc, we finally got a result.  We had made it known via these channels we were going to start legal proceedings against the developer.  Guess what?  The builders turned up mob-handed and within a day the A/C was fixed, the bath was repaired, the rain damaged walls were bleached, painted and the hole in the ceiling repaired, plus the terrace doors were made more secure to stop them rattling.  Now, I think, we can sit back and enjoy our "Place In The Sun" (I'm touching wood when I say that ).
