I was advised by Tracey (MLH) during my visit to snag the apartment in December that a phone line was automatically provided (in Block 18).

Has anyone succeeded in getting a phone installed, with or without internet/broadband ? We have ordered from Telefonica but nothing has happened. The site office say that someone called Jan (male, pronounced Yan I think) at CDS Suites knows all about phones and that Telefonica have allegedly connected up all apartments and they just need activating by dialling a "900" number. We have failed to contact Jan so far.
There is a worrying statement in one of the Ammex documents available on their web site that states that Telefonica are unable to provide phones (or do they mean internet ?) due to infrastructure problems.

We were able to get two handsets from the Sales Office. Good handsets too. But then I read on Ammex website there were no telephone lines. So we have two handsets for our apartments in block 13 and 15 but not connected.
We are only going to be out holiday times and occasional weekends - if anyone gets broadband in block 15 and wireless works would it be possible to link up and contribute to the costs as do not really want to have to pay for phone line and broadband for infrequent use?
Could this be an option for others?

We have just returned from CDS and were given a 'free' handset by Pablo in the site office, together with what purported to be our new phone number (numbers seem to have been pre-allocated to all apartments). It all sounded jolly exciting but unfortunately when we connected the handset there was no dial tone. We left Pablo to speak to Telefonica about it. No mention of a contract at all, it was a bit odd really. It may be that each line has to be activated by agreeing to a contract, hope to find out soon ... As for broadband, I'm not over hopeful. We spoke to another resident who has a phone but has been unable to get broadband, probably as a result of inadequate Telefonica capacity. I did read somewhere that when the Casares road is improved they would at the same time improve infrastructure for phones, electricity and water.
