Hi all,

We managed to get everything sorted for the indoors of our apartment on a recent 'mad' 4 day trip. We are due to be back in Condado in 3 weeks for 6 days and the mission is sorting out furniture for our roof terrace. As we will have our 14 month old in tow this time we won't have the luxury of hours trolling around the place doing lots of driving. So was hoping some of you wonderful people could help out with some recommendations and directions to shops or garden centres we could try. We just need the usual - outdoor table / sun loungers etc. and ideally somewhere that will deliver within a few days of us choosing and paying!

I've looked back to about June on the forum for any recommendations and 2 were mentioned without directions. These were polaris world yedra and polaris world garden centre. Anyone know where these are and if they are worth a visit?
n.b. we have already tried Gines Navarro and Brico at Camposol, but didn't think they had much choice for outdoor stuff.

Lastly - has anyone else with small kids fitted extra gates on their roof terrace stairs? If so where did you get them from?

Any help much appreciated

Caroline and Phil

Hi Caroline & Phil,

Like you we too have still to purchase our outdoor funiture. When we were there beginning October most of the big shops like Ikea had removed there OF(Outdoor Funiture) from sale as our shops would do in the winter months so found the selection very limited, but what was on offer was being sold off at fantastic prices unfortunately we didn't like what they were selling off.  PW Homestlye had a great selection but you'll pay for it.  We liked a table and four chairs and they were quoting about 1,000 euros, we liked it but not that much. PW Homestyle is next to their head office on the C3319.

My friend has advised to wait until January when apparently the shops have massive sales, but unlike here they are genuine sales with savings of up to 50%, she has had her holiday home for at least 15 years now and knows the spanish retail markets well.  So if you are not desperate maybe you should wait until then, I am certainly considering it.

Ali

Hi Caroline & Phil,

I forgot to mention a website you might like to try, as it has lots of OF "Ironartcostablanca.com".  We visited there shop but again nothing was suitable.  You might have better luck.

No idea where my lengthy post about what i bought on my trip out there has gone............... but i detailed everything !

And per Ali's comments  i'm aware that its bargain time out there for the next 3 months for outdoor furniture :)

Back terrace (breakfast in summer) - Gino Navorros - €500 for solid rattan/glass table and 4 rattan solid chairs

Front for afternoons/evenings (aprtment bought deliberately for the sun positions) - Z-Beds at Camposol (minimal choice) - just landed lucky, they had some outdoor Rattan left for €300 a two seater, 2 single seaters and table with cushions, and i also chose a quality outdoor dining table, seats 6, wind-up expaning umbrella and 6 textaline chairs (and comfy !), what they ahd was quality and not that badly priced - mine was €750ish (i think)

Bought em all for outdoor use where a hosepipe down will do to clean em

I haven't bought this stuff yet - like Ali & Simon I'm going over in January to do it then.
However, when I was at Los Alacazares recently, heading for Torre Pacheco, I came across Juangalo, a shop near Illucom and Muebles Direct - their business card shows this as their address: -
Pol.Ind. "Los Alcazares" Parcela B - 1 3 - Poligono "B", 30710 - Los Alacazares.
(God knows what it all means but it's on the F 30 just outside los Alcazares.)
Tables and seat were going or 400 - 500 Euros and loungers for 75.
Might be worth a look,

Peter

Hi All
Last September we went looking all over for solarium furniture we liked, I think as it was coming to the end of the summer most places had stopped stocking it. We did find a reasonable selection at DFS (Direct Furniture Spain) www.dfsspain.com ,as most of you know they are nothing to do with DFS UK.

Alternatively if you are buying in the UK and arraigning to take furniture over then Smart-Direct.co.uk is worth a look www.smart-direct.co.uk/8-piece-rattan-set.htm I have just bought some for home (UK) the Monaco 8 Piece outside furniture @ £399 is the same as Land of Leather in the UK was selling in the summer @ £599 and that was a good price then. NB Smart-Direct do charge delivery the amount depends were its being delivered to in my case £38 to Cheshire (I didn’t ask if they would deliver to Spain, I just presumed it would be to expensive).

Regards
Phil

Thank you for all the replies / suggestions so far - It sounds like we're looking at completly the wrong time of year. I perhaps stupidly thought that spain would sell lots of this stuff all year around. Unfortunately we can't take advantage of the January sales as i'm pregnant and unable to fly past Christmas - how annoying! The new baby also means we're unlikely to get out to our apartment again before next summer. So were hoping to get all sorted on this trip, so sickeningly our family and friends can go out and enjoy our apartment whlst we're back home up to our eyes in nappies!! I guess if worst comes to the worst and there's nothing much in the shops now they'll have to take a towel each onto the lawn by the swiming pool and relax there instead!

Hi Caroline. I somehow don't think you're going to get much chance to sit on the chairs anyhow. You'll be chasing that little bundle of joy before you know it. Hope you get everything you want on your trip. Tan

Hi Caroline,

Good luck with your  shopping trip and also with the birth of your forthcoming child. You'll need to remember and post the news when it happens, (Not right away as I know you may be busy) but a couple of hours later will do :)

Ali

Hi Caroline,

Hope I can get a table and chairs in the sales.  Then I'll be able to sit down and wet the baby's head.    We hear names now like Tarquin etc.  Please dont call him/her Jardines.

Best wishes

We've got friends on La Torre and they bought their very nice plastic wicker style sofa and chairs from D & G leisure.  Its aparently opposite the 525 Hotel in Los Alcazares.  We're out next week so  will be checking it out then as well.

If you're in the area might be worth trying Muebles Mar Menor that is oposite -she got her headboards, mirrors and rugs from there and they looked good too.

Gines Navaarro would be our 1st stop too as we also got chairs and table there for 150 euro's this week but noted they had a wide selection of rattan and wicker outdoor furniture at various prices. Leroy Merlin has a selection too.
