Had a good long holiday in GP in August. Akua's bar became a bit of a neighbourhood hangout when the Club closed its bar at 4pm every day to drive everyone to Akua. Nothing crowded though. Friends have used the house since then and been amazed at how quiet it is.
The shop on the parade is still going , all alone. But the Italians who'd bought all the other shops to let out were doing up one of the units as a "show-shop" to try to fire would-be shopkeepers' imaginations. Apparently the licence with the shops is pretty restrictive. Fitting them out needs planning permission that takes months and there's a covenant saying they should close on a Sunday which has to be got round. (According to my source at the Stop and Buy)
Nothing happened with the flats (although there was some rough levelling of the big area in front f your apartment, bit more towards your entrance road than the flats but definitely some clearing ??)
Our development is a bit more liquid financially because Caja Sur is now paying some community charge for the houses it's repossessed. But there's also been some concreting over of private gardens which isn't pretty.
We've been suffering from hit after hit of IBI (council tax) and Basura (rubbish tax) and soon to come income tax all based on a new "valor catastral" that happened last February which puts the value of the house higher than it was. Don't know if we can appeal. In total about €3,500 this year but €1,000 was for last year. Turns out that the town hall have been sending our bills to some non existent address but when we went to change it they said we couldn't /wouldn't without official NIE certificates.
Basically it's lovely when we're there but a pain in the b...when we are trying to sort things from the UK.
How is Switz??
