Hi All,
Completed on Friday. 2 years 4 months since first deposit Y-I-P-P-E-E-E-E.
Unusually I'm quickly going to hit the gripes first.
1) Exchange rate. Paid in the region of £20,000 more than originally planned because of it.
2) Sat in the notary office for 41/2 hours.
3) Never been in my actual apartment till after I signed. Only been in showhouse. It looks a hell of a lot smaller than I remembered.
4) Polaris do seem to be in a financial crisis.
My response to above.
1) I had options on how to minimise the exchange rate impact. Just wanted to sign and get it done. So glad I did.
2) Sat in the notary for 41/2 hours in part to the tenacity of my excellent solicitor. He noticed something omitted in the contract which he wanted back in. He told the man from Polaris so, then persuaded the Notary himself to side with us. So well worth the wait and well done him.
3) Yeah, the apartment maybe smaller, a lot smaller than I remembered or imagined. But for many years now I have always wanted my own little pad in Spain. And now I have it. While I was there the weather was mild - very warm. The people were mostly pleasent and charming, and the scenery was glorious. Worth every cent of the extra costs.
4) Yes Polaris are in financial crisis, so are a lot of companies. I see possibly two things happening here. Credit Suisse have a 25% stake, Caja Valencia and Caja Murcia each have a 10% stake. They have loaned the company in excess of 300 million Euro's. CdA is at a very advanced stage of development. I really think the banks would be foolish to walk away now.
However if they did it would not be long before some other developer took it over. Far as I'm concerned. Nothing to much to worry about, just needs a little time and people to stop having knee jerk reactions.
To All the people I met in the bar on Saturday night. Thank you all, it was great to put faces to names, and it was a fun night.
Also met removal man Allan whilst there. Great bloke really helpful, had to re-jig my dates around which he did without fuss.
Met Carol too (Angelbabe911). Still nuts I'm glad to see. I believe I can also see the reason she dosen't get on here a lot. My plane was delayed by 3 hours so did not arrive to Carols to pick up key till 22:30pm. Whilst there a furniture van arrived for someone whom she was keyholding for. She asked would I mind waiting, and left me with a very nice welcome cup of coffe while she went to organise the furniture. She returned, only to immediately have a phone call from someone who had locked themselves out of the apartment and went to sort that out. She returned again to finally give me the key to the apartment. Now close to midnight. All the time though she was really really pleasent. Very professional, and I quickly realised that she is certainly NOT doing an ordinary 9 to 5 job. Glad she is my keyholder with an attitude like that. Met a fellow memeber of her team whilst out there. "Cute uniforms girls" very smart, quite a professional touch. Carol showed me a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine that she can obtain. In fact she now offers a service whereby she can obtain anything you need for your home. If you get the chance to read this Carol I will definately be taking you up on the appliances mentioned. Will PM or email you.
Oh yeah. Once again I've COMPLETED on my little bit in Spain. And I'm gonna love it, the people, the culture, the beaches, and everything about it.. Even the community charges!!!! Watert Rates!!!!! Electricity charges!!!!!
Ha, bring on Easter for my next trip
