It is in between Jardine 6 & 7 , ultimately where the gym will be. There is also a supermarket next door

Hi,

The reason it's called the Surgery is because it is so white and clinical looking and has absolutely no atmosphere, none whatsoever.  I didn't think it would be that bad but believe me I've never been in such a souless white place before in my life.

Another piece of useless info it was Nick (Skell) who named it this i think and its stuck.

Ali

It's real name is Bar Manzano. I tried naming it Mankini, after Shampers' bathing attire, but it didn't catch on !

So does that mean it's called the Apple Tree or is my translation website laughing at me?

Only bright side about surgery is that soon it will be warm enough to sit outside - the few times I've been there have been to meet up with EOS bloggers and once we've all had a few drinks the atmosphere has soon warmed up.

We are out there over Easter so hope to meet up on one of the nights beging proposed.  Wearing a badge is a good idea - I have spent a lot of time trying to eavesdrop to conversations to see if people are those we've arranged to meet to my husbands utter embarrassment but it has worked everytime and we have met some great people on our visits and look forward to meeting more.

Hi Michelle & Paul,

I'm sure it will be nice and warm to sit outside by the time we get over there at Easter. You're right, the best way to liven the place up a bit is to get talking and have a few drinks as we all get to know each other and share stories. No point being shrinking violets and waiting for everyone else to make the first move - let's don our home made eye on spain emblem with our names and it is an instant ice-breaker to say hello to fellow forum'ees as well as others who may well not be party to the conversations we have had over the past months.

Ali,

I know what you mean by soul-less, but I think if we get a bit of a crowd in it will soon warm & melt the 'Polar glare' coming from within. The last time we were out in November there were never more than 2 or three people inside so we just  drove straight on and finished off the evening with a glass of wine sitting on our deck chairs in the apartment (well, we had usually just got back late from a gruelling evening's shopping in Murcia so it was medicinal !!)

There looks like there will be a decent crowd out for Easter so let's try and ignore the pain of the 3.50 (reduced from 4 though) euro beers at the surgery - that's where the name came from, the pain. I wonder if they sell general anesthetic to dumb it down a bit ?? Anyway, we will be arriving on Saturday 11th and look forward to meeting new friends there.

Regards,

Hi Billbo,

Out over Easter ourselves - 9th~13th, so will certainley meet up for a session at The Surgery.  I can vouch that when you get a good crew in the atmosphere is fine.  On a cold night in Dec in there we met Cuz, Scapa, Skinnymags, Golfinjim, Chris & Liz etc etc and had areally good night.........my major gripe with the place is the early finish.  11.00 for Spain is just not on.  If you could visit there post dinning out - it would be great, but the time you get back from anywhere half decent you barely get chance for last orders.

A big test for Herbert at Easter.  A packed surgery, all gagging for a few more easter pints/wines/G&T' etc & he rings the bell.    Imagine on Easter Sunday........last 9 holes of the Masters........Woods leading by one.........wine flowing..........& the bell goes ........he try's to boot us out!!

Unthinkable in any other boozer on the planet........except the one & only SURGERY......

Thank you all.  Now I know where it is.  I agree, it is white - you need sunglasses to go in the place!

The " Surgery" IS Jardin 6 Not between 6 and 7

It is between 5 and 7

We were over last wek & had a meet up with EOS members plus friens & friends of,  so the atmosphere was really good.

Sorry do not know the name of the manager, though I know he has been gioven quite a few over the months.

I have to say that I have never found him anything but polite.

I did help clear tables after our get together ( Rememanisent of student times for me ) & it seem to break the ice.

& as his english, though limited is still good enough to get by . we did start to have quite a good chat over the remaining days. He was teaching me spanish & I was attempting to teach him english. which caused us a few laughs.

Remember , He doesnt know many of us well enough yet & is probably a little unsure as to how to aproach us

Time will tellJan

If there is to be so many of us about at easter, why not try to arrange your own 'street party'  arrange a day, time and venue and everyone brings there own, food, drink and chairs and maybe a fold up table and away you go.  no paying inflated prices, no closing times, and everyone enjoys the company.

Im up for it so let us know when and where we are on los naranjos out from 9th to 14th April.

Barbara.

Hi All

As mentioned previously I'm out 8 - 11th April.  The Surgery?  A Jardine? Penthouse roof terrace? The round-a-bout at the entrance?  Just 3 important questions... Will there be a load of nutters off this site there?  Will there be lots of alcohol there?  Will there be lots of drunken members of the Golden buggy girls there?  If the answer is YES to the first two questions, I'll be there, dont care where the venue is.

Clearing tables!  You sound like the nicest person ever - look forward to meeting you!

Does everyone else who hasn't met all the others have their own ideas of what people look like and act like from EOS.  I bet we'll all get a surprise when we all meet.
