got completion date

Hi all

We recieved a phone call today from pw telling us our property on la isla will be ready on the 3rd week of july.

We have bought on block 3.Now all the stress of finding furniture etc.All advice from people on cda who have already completed greatfuly recieved.    Pat

Congratulations Pat...  Presumably you'll be down there at the time so you can be the first to get a few photo's taken of the inside's and also close-up's of the island itself.

Have you got a two or three bedroom apartment..??   If it's a two, I was thinking maybe you could save me a lot of hassle and go get all my furniture, air-con & TV etc sorted too so it's ready for me to walk into in a couple of months time.. Ah go on, I'll buy you a beer..!!  Thanks ..!!

Hope this is the start of phone calls to come, can't wait to get sorted out and in our own place, we are in block 2 next to you so hopefully we should hear soon, Did they give you  a date for snagging, exchange etc.

Congratulations Pat,

I am on CDA and have finally finished furnishing!!  You can shop around as much as you like trying to save the odd euro here and there, but when you consider time, petrol, hassle etc etc you may as well bite the bullet and get it where you can.  Ikea, Carrefoure, place in Mazzaron for beds (name escapes me at the mo), Gary from Polar air for aircon, etc.  Alternatively you could shop over here and frieght it over, choices choices!

Congratulations on your forthcoming completion - you must be so excited!

There is such a lot for you to think about now - I did a fairly lengthy and detailed posting about completion arrangements and furnishing etc on another thread which you may find useful.  It is on the main Condado section of this forum, the thread is titled "Time needed for completion etc" and the last posting is dated 23rd April 2009.  Hope you find it helpful, but if you want any more information, I am sure you will find plenty of people on the forum happy to share their experiences and advice.

Can't wait for our call (Block 10) were out 2nd to 3rd week staying in Jardins. Hope to tie up loose ends then.

Have just paid 50% deposit on furniture so thats on course but still so much to sort out water lecky etc once signed.

Will be out in August but have booked place on La Torre as was un sure of apartment being ready.

Did PW give you any notice of what would happen? how long what you need etc?

From some of the lateset pictures the island does look good. hope we are all happy with it.

Do you know if the club house at the end of the island is built or is that shelved?

Congratulations to all completing in the near future.

These are exciting times but can be stressfull too with all the shoppiing and sorting that needs to happen.

For furniture packs I would recommend DFS, they are close by (San Javier), good on service and quality.

For electrical goods you can´t beat the carrefoure´s good selection on most products, you can also get towels bed linen, kitchens ware and also patio furniture.

We also have a Yorkshire Linen Co. in Mazarron.  Not to mention IKEA about 40mins away.

Good luck with your upcoming completion... be prepared for a long day at the Notary's office but other than that all went smoothly for us!

Regards furniture, we used furnitureplus and flatpaxabia (they shop, deliver and erect ikea stuff) - both English speaking and excellent service. We also shopped for bits and pieces in Eroksi and Carrefour as well as Ikea but we did arrange shipments of some electrical goods and bits n bobs - we used Allan who's widely recommended on EOS. Polarair are also doing our air con at the end of this month.

My solicitor spoke to polaris this week concerning completion on la isla and he was told propertys complete but paperwork may hold things up.We were given late July for completion but it may now be end Aug or early Sept.We are happy with this as it gives the euro a little bit longer to recover. End of August or September sounds good to me too so as the ' £'  can flex it's muscles a bit more... I reckon it could be up to the 1.25 mark or better by then.

We're going out on Monday for a week to have a look around the complex and to sign POA over to our solicitor so as we don't have to be there as and when completion happens.
