HELP!!!

We have a ground floor 3 bed apt in Jardin 7,los naranjos. We are over for 2 weeks late july/early august and can see our 3 kids frying already!!

What are the options for a canopy and are the ikea ones mentioned previously by untold numbers of people, up to the job and best bought in the UK or in Spain?

We havent been for approx 6 weeks now,any good news on progress?

Hi Jack & Jane,

We bought Ikea canopy from UK and was using it last 2 weeks.

It works well for shade but one word of caution you can still get burned under it, all be it slower than in the direct sun, as I found out.

The thermometer on the roof terrace got to 45c. We were talking to some local Spainish and they were saying the June temps are already higher than the normal July / Aug temps, and they are expecting a heatwave up to 50 - 55 in July / August.

Take plenty of factor 50 !!!

We are due out in August and mindful of the heat expected have just ordered a fitted canopy for our Penthouse terrace  - cost around 700 EU fitted by a local contractor, these guys have done plenty of other Narajanjos canopies already if its of interest  - you could contact our keyholder Alan Milton for details and a quote....

They would need to measure up 1st but you would need to get a move on, as all work will stop in August to keep out of the overpowering heat !

Hi All  Ikea have now stopped selling the canopies. I tried to get one from Warrington then Ashton under lyne. Both shops said they are a discontinued stock item. When we were over in June, on jardin 2 or 3 there is a Spanish chap who sells and fits them for 50 Euros. These are better than Ikea as they have steel reinforcement on each corner and are held with chains and adjustable tensioners. One is at his mothers apartment on the ground floor on Jardin 2 or 3 on the perimeter road. It is worth a look

If anybody intrested i use a local supplyer who comes and measures and fits awnings in variuos colours ( best to go with the cream), i can get you prices if intrested.
