Grant Thornton meeting 23rd October

Is there anyone planning to go to this meeting? I am hoping to be there and it would be good to meet some of you face to face.

To those that could not make the meeting:

* Grant Thornton appear to have made good progress,

* Creditors committee consists of some stong and determined characters. 

* I generally thought it was good but in terms of recovering our money from the liquidation - I don't think you will- certainly nowhere near your losses.. Consider all options. See earlier good advice. Ignacio at Brethertons solicitors and Maria De Castro seem to most prominent advisors from a legal perspective but there are others. At worst, chat to one of them depending upon your specific circumstances.

* I don't wsh to go into too much details although it is not a secret. Claims are now £50m. 

Thanks GT and those on the creditor committee - let's hope you make the progress you hope to in the future and get us some justice.

to re-iterate - GT act for the creditors to recover money and report to the Inolvency Service (Official Receiver). The police conduct their own enquires. Let GT have as much information as you can to help with their case, Ditto re DI Spears at Staffordshire Police.

Did anybody ask at the meeting what assistance any of the ex-directors are giving to GT and the police?

Also have they tracked the 20+ million that Estepona clients paid as deposits for their apartments?Surely the assets of all ex directors should of been frozen especially as they all received large payments when there was no pofit in their business, that was just our money.

I am amazed at the fact that ** EDITE D - Names ** have just been allowed to set up another business which involves credit debt management! I think the laws in this country need to be looked at ASAP.

Has anybody heard much about Ricardo Miranda, he seems to be hiding under a stone somewhere?? I would imagine the Punta Perla customers are in exactly the same situation.

* The key people of OVP have been interviewed and are "helping with enquiries" - the investiation is ongoing and allegations need to be proved (obviously this is being looked at)

* They are carrying out investigations re the EBCC and other money

* the Singing Pig thread on Punta Perla is interesting. 

* For now, the ex-OVP people can do what they like so it would seem!  Of course, they will tell you forever and a day they did nothing wrong - maybe they would like to explain to us all in a meeting somewhere what happened?

* The parent company is now also in liquidation being handled by GT

I am surprised more people were not at the meeting. I guess people are busy??

Keep up your good work. Can you tell me has the Spanish authorities been contacted by the English police because I feel developer has alot of questions to answer. Also it is likely that OV? directors have assets in Spain and probably Punta Perla. Could it also be the case that the American authorities can investigate after all Punta Perla and other developements associated with this developer and OV? have been sold in American and there was some form of trade agreement set up between PP and America. This developer it seems talks about building things but nothing ever materialises or is this what OV? wants us to think! This maybe a international scam.

Message to you JK? please get us our money back or else I feel you could soon  be front page news. I know you hate this forum because it tells the truth and the truth hurts. I hear you can wipe peoples credit card debt. I was wondering could you wipe my EBCC debt. I would nt like to give you my credit card details. I hear it is hotter in England for you than Spain maybe its climate change.

just a quick update on my case against OVP and Aifos.  The Spanish courts in September found Aifos guilty of the main crime of not refunding my deposit after I cancelled the contract due to massive breaches of contract.  They also found OVP guilty of withholding £6,000 of mine as their commision, when in reality they knew 'Balcones de riviera' would never be built. My feeling is that they along with Lesley Albereci of UK Conveyancing are the most to blame. If they hadn't handed over our money to their dodgy developers instead of holding it in a safe account as promised untill a building license was granted, we would not now be in this mess.

Despite OVP being in liquidation, they have still appealed against the sentence against them for a puny £6.000. which is obviously just a fraction of what I have lost, so now my lawyer has to go to court again to defend that!  There really is no limit to the depths OVP will stoop to, even now after being shown to be nothing more than a bunch of low down crooks.

I also despair of the court system of even letting them appeal such a case when there's enough evidence to bury them a thousand times over!

Goodstich44 - you are a very determined man and I admire your efforts and am very pleased to hear of your success and like you am amazed an appeal is allowed in the face of such overwhelming evidence against them.

Oldcasle -  the feedback is necessary to ensure everyone knows the fight will never end  until there is no-one to chase and when we have our justice. We all know they are guilty. I just hope our legal and police force have the ability, resources and sufficient evidence to get them all locked up and assets siezed. We can all play a part - information is key. 

Should they get a good kick in along they way as well I that would be unfortunate.  I have to say that I totally disagree with any form of violence and recomend against it. It MUST be left to the authorities. Please, please do not become a victom of these people by taking the law into your own hands as you will get into trouble, however much pain they have caused you.  I know that if they chose to play such games then they take these risks and that some people seem to be getting very angry indeed now (and have been at boiling point for a while no doubt). Perhaps it is time to start repaying money and quickly. I would be crapping it personally and rightly so. However, if you do stick them one on the nose, though, give them one from me!

Rory 2 - no problem - I think my option is a sensible and prudent one - I recommend you and your contacts join me.

Has anybody else received a letter from Brotherton Solicitors saying that they have received our details and also 60 other clients who used Converyancing UK. They would like to act for us and to complete the enclosed form?

I did not use Conveyancing UK so I presume this company have just sent the letter to all clients in the hope of some business.

I hope that Colin Thomas and Ricardo Miranda are getting prepared for what they have to come. I cannot believe they thought they could get away with such a large scale scam.

I did win my case, but no, I haven't got anything. I might still get something one day as a creditor? If my court case hadn't been delayed for over two years the developer would still have been in business when I won my case. What more can you say?

any one know what happened of UNICO and the morocco development people were being encouraged to switch to? Are they still getting money from people despite the situation we are in?

Were OVP and Miranda really joined with Unico. What did happen exactly. Should Staff police be aware of this? is it the next thing to go pop or is it legitimate? 
 

We just need these people stopped from conning anyone else and I have concerns that they will no be stopped or be brought to justce.

SJ has disappeared now/his phone no. does not work. Does anyone have a home address as it would be good for Staff Police to have this even if he is not one of the bad guys he should be a witness to something.

Joey  123 i do not think it is long now before the truth is out i have also been told gt are going to post a report .I hope it deals with all the issues rather than a developer said this and ocean view said that..I have been sent some interesting emails from ex ov who responded to my last posting but i want to establish there authenticity before posting i will make them available once we have seen what gt say after there extensive work.But it is becoming rather obvious whilst ov are guilty and are involved  Ricardo miranda has a lot to answer   his track record is truly attrocious.But it seems gt have had dealings with ricardo before they were part of a case on behalf of the woodhall estate sueing miranda for unpaid commission on the estepona site which they won a figure of 1.9 million euros my people in madrid say it was case no 1354/07 in the madrid court .  It would be helpful if anyone could get a transcript of that case i am trying. Because wearing my profesional head how could a court in spain grant in favour of the woodall estate if as the sungolf office keep telling everyone that it is all ov. Again if responsibility can be landed at sungolf  then we can pursue miranda  following the success of the class action against the gardens of manilva develper.It is the same signed contract by us the client not signed by miranda ,,no buid license , had our money thru ov no bank guarantee etc etc.It will be interesting how gt cover it for all the gardens of manilva clients in the statement. It is time we start to organise ourselves because clearly nobody is going to do this for us    why do not we make a massive effort to arrange a meeting and form an action commitee..

My sentiments exactly, I suggested a fighting fund once, if needed. The case you mentioned regarding unsigned contracted also gives us hope of action against RM. I have passed this to my solicior.

The talk from GT gives me optimism that they are making good progress and like you I await their report.

Too little seems to being done by the police and these people need to suffer both financially and by serivng time.  Can anyone bring pressure on the police to act via MPs etc? I know we have been there on this before and got no where.

I do wonder though just how many people would bother to join in such a group as proposed? To orginaise such a meeting would be very difficult.  However, that said, it should be seriously considered. Let's see what GT say and then go from there.
