Happy Hour

Hi all,

Went down the Clover last night during "Happy hour" .....but not so happy now! Ordered a pint and a wine which should have been half price ,got the  bill for €5.99.After questioning the price,we were told that it is now finished but the drinks are going to be cheaper across the board ...........Happy Hour our drinks just over €3 now €5.99!!!!!!!!!!.

Just watching the podcast on www.condadodealhamadaservices.com and things arn't that bad.

In happy hour. 6 to 8. a pint was reduced from 3.5 to 2.5.  But now the price has been dropped to 3 all the time, so with the discount card it's 2.7.  As most people end up staying past 8 it'll probably work out cheaper in the long run.  I mean it's more than that in the pubs in the UK

Good news 3euros allday everyday, not everybody wants to drink between 6pm-8pm

Don't forget the exchange rate is rising - 1.15 today!   Which makes it's £2.60 a pint !  (£2.35 with card).

What about the wine?  Has anything happened on that?

Whose needs to be happy for just an hour!  We can be happy all the time!

Having witnessed your (and mine) alcohol abuse one time, I have some bad news.  Even if it was 1 cent a glass of wine, and 1 cent a pint of lager, we'd both have to win the Euro Lottery to cover our bar bills.

Will customs let me through with my MANKINI at Easter.  More importantly.......... would you want them to.

Do you do taxi-ing in that "Golden Buggy?"  If so pick me up Penthouse block 1 Good Friday.  

Hopefully will see you in Al Kasar.  Do believe its my round next.

I understand customs will let you through as your contribution to spains GDP and alcohol taxation is the main reason why they think their economy is on the up.

However the mankini is now classed as a class A danger to the public and will be confiscated and used as a wind sock at the airport!!

P.S. First post on this forum.  Thought I'd mention we love our apartment, the site and like most other people just hope the negativity doesn't put off potential buyers.  Would have loved to have seen the full development going ahead but if they finish what they've started and Al Kasar fills up with shops etc we'll be more that happy.

Fingers crossed it all works out (apparently we're coming out of the recession?!!*!*)

Hi Lizzie welcome to the forum. We also love our apartment too and are of the view that issues mentioned on here and elsewhere are just teething problems, hopefully 2010 will see improvements. As for the new prices at the bar they sound okay and even better with the discount card.

Lizzie, Polaris charge 140 euro's for a discount card that we can use in the supermarkets, bars and restaurants on Polaris resorts as well as in the pro-shop if buying goods ( there's already a discount for the golf as an owner) and it gives 10% discount. There's also one off vouchers for a free night at one of the Intercontinetal Hotels and 3 nights at reduced rates  and for spa treatments also plus other discounts I cant remeber of hand but other forum memeber can no doubt add to.  Haven't got the direct email address to hand but I know someone on here will come up with it for you -or customer services can help. 

We are over very soon and hope to sample the new prices at the bar and make good use of the card- on that point and off thread I know- but can we use it on the sports zone?

Firstly welcome to the forum .

There is a Polaris card that wil give you discounts in the bars, resturants, supermarket etc.  It costs €145 a year, but as you get 50% in the resturants it will only take a few meals over the year to get your money back.

Thanks for posting the details Phil - was sure it was 140 euros and in fact we were sure it was 140 until we paid for it and that's stuck and I  forgot you get 50% off in the restaurant. In fact, thats probably the way to get my fussy husband to eat in there- tell him he's saving money!

I'm sorry I missed you New Year!  I did look out for you!  The bar bill in the Clover that night wasn't that big due to the fact it took ages to get served!!!  He He!     I did get a warning to leave though!  Where was my drinking mate then!! No seriously thats another story.      Bring back Herbet thats what I say  LOL!!!

For sure mark my word you will see me one day in a golden buggy riding 'round the CDA and by all means I will pick you up along the way, but only if you are wearing your mankini!!!

Jan/Phil, thanks for this, sounds good.  Still positive but a slight concern would be if we buy the card now and Polaris pull out of Condada would it be money down the drain.

We haven't been out since October - are the two restuarants still open?
