Hi Barbara John and Terry,
I made a site visit to Las Higuericas last weekend, the retaining walls for the plots on phase one have also been built now and according to the sales office the first phase is almost ready for the construction workers to start, apparently the building licenses for each house one phase one had to be updated to include the new building regulations that have recently came into force. You may be interested to know that we made a recent visit to the local school with our two grandaughters who will be joining the school early next year hopefully, we were made to feel very welcome by the head teacher, all the staff and pupils who are also very excited about having a few English children joining them. We firmly believe that the only way for the family to integrate with the locals is firstly for the children to attend a Spanish school rather than a private English school, we think this will be the key to the first steps of being accepted by the local community. After watching the BBC program last week on health care in Spain, I can also confirm that we had to use the services of the new hospital in Torrevieja during our previous visit, one of the children had to be stiched up after a nasty fall, the service we received was brilliant, much better than the treatment our mother recently received in a UK hospital, she actually came out with more than she went in with !! Personally I think to many Brits go to live abroad without doing their homework first and expect their adopted country to look after them, we are the first to complain about all of the imigrants coming into the UK and using our facilities free of charge. The department of Health and National security were very helpfull in informing us of what we are entitled to for the first year. We seem to get a lot of negative television programes about Spain, but not many positive, do you think it's a ploy by the government to discourage Brits from leaving the UK and loosing all of the taxes they keep imposing on us ?? Regards to you all Ruby
