Hi,
We fly out (or hope to) on the 20th August. I have asked the question whether Murcia Airport will actually be effected because I am told it's actually a military airport. Not had any feedback yet so it's a case of watch this space.

Think all commercial flights are to be involved but some 'net sites are saying 'negotiations continue' so fingers crossed it may be cancelled. However its best to be prepared. We looked at transferring to France and Portugal but car hire starts around 330 for 1 day plus cost of flights. Most airlines will transfer you free to another of their flights if yours is cancelled but you are left at their disposal and we must be back for the Monday so have to look to bear the cost.

I read on the net that union are meeting again on Thurs to make a decision if strike action is to go ahead. It then went on to say that they have to give 10 days notice before a walkout, which means the earliest strike date would be 22nd August
Here's hoping as we come out on the 18th
Hopefully strike will be avoided. I was out in April when the volcano went up and had disruption. Sure work will laugh if I have another excuse this time

Just seen this on Rueters- we are also hoping it will happen after 20th, if it happens at all.
Can anyone who has been involved in disruption and cancelled flights previously tell me if the airlines still expect you to print out a 'new' boarding card if you get a rebooked flight?

Thanks for the info, here's a link to the Reuters story. Seems there's a decision possible on Thursday and 10 days notice is required.

Taken from another thread on EOS
Spanish Air Traffic Controllers Hold off on Strike
10 August 2010 @ 21:38
Spain's air traffic controllers say they will not stage a threatened strike in August to avoid hurting tourism.
After a four-hour meeting Tuesday, the controllers' union USCA said it had decided to hold off on the stoppage in the hope the government aviation authority would resume negotiations that broke down last week.

Good news
Only cloud on the horizon now is the possible strike by BAA staff over the bank holiday weekend
You've got to love the Unions

Great news for those who fly out in August
Hope agreements can be made without striking later in the year also.
Looking forward to our vacation now knowing we will get there.

Hi Tasha, just realised the strike would have affected you- I would have been here on my own at that point though. We are delighted we can both now stay . Looking forward to saying 'hello'. Still watering that plant for you!
