At around 7am this morning the storms which have done so much damage in the north-west of the region hit the Murcian coast, causing widespread flooding in Aguilas. Emergency services received over 100 calls as subterranean garages flooded, more than 30 litres per square metre falling in less than an hour.
Aguilas Holidaymakers parked in the rambla had a nasty shock, as the rainwater swept 7 cars out to sea, and others which were parked near to the exit point of the rambla in Playa Delicias were dragged into trees and shops as the water overspilled into surrounding streets.
Many trees, signposts and furniture also disappeared as the waters flowed and the entrance to Calabardina was completely inaccessible to traffic.
