I've used GoldCar for the last 3 years (3 visits per year) and I have had no problems whatsoever with them. Just check the cost of the fuel they charge you for. If you hire for less than 3 days I think you can return the car and they credit you the amount of fuel left in the tank otherwise for more than 3 days you have to take it back empty (something we have always found it hard to do other than drilling a hole in the fuel tank at the airport not adviseable!!!!!!!!!).
Try Auriga Crown.com or DoYouSpain.com
Hope this helps

Thanks guys I want to use them because they will take my spannish debit card were i had been puting money in when the rate was €1-20!!!! However they did mention extra insurance of €35 I don't know whether its compulsory but it still works out cheaper with them than an economy car with Centauro!

We always book through www.economycarhire.com who are brokers for lots of the car hire companies. You can purchase the extra insurance through them when you book for £1.50 a day, then the car hire companies will take a holding amount on your credit card as if they find any damage they take it from that then you claim it back through the insurance. We have never had anything taken off this holding amount which with Centauro is 300€. The only disadvantage is that you have to pay when you book but we have always found their prices reasonable.

with regard to the extra insurance I always take out a yearly policy with "Insurance for car hire"
for 49 GBP per year you are fully covered, the carhire co. charge you and then you charge your policy, this gives you unlimited trips and you can defer the start dates, it is really flexible
I have never had to claim yet but as I hire 4 or 5 times a year it works out much cheaper than taking the carhire extra insurance
I found it by accident (no pun) while surfing one evening it´s on the links page of www.planxtyspanishsun.com

I just used Carspain.com to book car hire. The mini economy car was advertised with 'No Excess'..On arrival at Murcia Goldcar desk they gave me the hard sell on their insurance. Their leaflet effectively states you only get Third Party Fire & theft basic insurance. There is a long list of things you are not covered for e,g clutch ,cat converter etc & a horror list of potential costs to you.It also says you are not covered for breakdown cover at weekends or outside office hours. I paid an extra 30e a week as I felt twitchy by then.
I have complained to Carspain.com as the offer price of 116e for 2 weeks ends up at £204.including fuel.
I note Carjet website states 'most sites' include fully comp insurance.
I know all rental companies are rip off merchants (fuel, currency etc) but when you deal with a broker linked to Cartrawler (based in Dublin) the costs seem to spiral..

try Al Andalus Car Hire, I just rented one for last week, 8 days, Opal Corsa diesel, full full, 90 euros on arrival and 15 euros to top it back up to full on return, brilliant. Wouldn't touch Gold Car with a gold pen!!

In the past I have always used Goldcar although never happy about the way they charge you for a full tank of petrol. The last Fiesta I had was returned with nearly half a tank - quite a profit margin for the company.
When I came over the last week in October Goldcar didn't have the car I needed so I was put on to Solmar (also at San Javier Airport). First of all there was no large queue to wait in for up to an hour and then, to our surprise, they only put a quarter tank of petrol in the car and it has to be returned with a quarter tank of petrol. This means no exobitant payment for petrol you may not use. I will be using Solmar in the future.
