Roda Golf Course - Greens

just got back from a weekend of playing golf, the course was great the weather was great too.

The only let down was the state of the greens.  I understand that coring is required 2 or 3 times a year to help aerate them but i'd like to know what they are doing about the many bald patches and dead grass on many of the greens.

I was a real shame that a course that has PGA billing has greens no better than a pitch and putt.

I played Roda on Saturday and Sunday and the greens were terrible, hopefully they'll be better by the time i come back for Christmas. The course certainly deserves much better greens than they have at the moment.

I believe when I was out there late September that someone said the head greenkeeper had left?

We also heard some disturbing news

Mike Malony the De- Vere Hotel connection guy with Roda is in dispute with Roda over his Pay

we  was told that both pay his wages 50% each but Roda are in dispute and maybe wont be paying him thier part

If as said on this forum the Head Keeper has gone plus the actual greens are looking tired and worn what have we left at Roda ???

 The only thing is/was a very good Resort Golf course, if this goes to pot and the last " connection " with De-Vere"s is looking a tad  doubtfull and that goe"s. what are our choices ???

Roda also just released the Head girl of Sales after 7 odd years and not replaced her , they are downsizing,

That dont look like a company that will finish the said job and give purchasers what was promised

I will speak with Roda this week and find out if this is indeed correct but I doubt we will be told the truth till the deed has actually been done

We all need to find out what is happening and see what Roda"s stance is on this.

I am sure there are some connected people that will be able to confirm if this is correct but I for one am worried about the lack of news and input from Roda , If I am wrong and I hope I am then I will say sorry to all concerned, I just feel this is serious and needs to be denied or confirmed ,Sorry for my English

Yes her name is Laura Saura, she had been at Calidona from the start , a nice helpfull girl

At the same time they let her go they let  the Head Sales girl at Corvera go named Esther, she had been there 5 years or so

I don’t know this girl you mentioned, but this week I passed through the main office and I met the girl responsible for the sales dept. She has been with the company a long time, and is now in charge of re-launching sales. In addition, more people have joined the sales team, I know Mark, and he is now working directly for Roda. So I think they are strong, and even getting stronger. Well they’re employing people, so that can’t be a bad sign.  Do not you think so?

If this is correct then it is good news to see Calidona employing new people

But  is it a case of letting 3 to 5  people go then only re- hire 1 or 2

Also to the list of people let go was the Head of the " snagging and works " sorry cannot remember  his name a Spanish chap tall with glasses and grey hair ?

Maybe Roda / Corvera are looking for new people to Head up the various Departments

The lady you refer to is Vanesa  I think , very nice Lady

wow .... roda relaunching sales and taking on sales people ! ... the future is indeed bright ... we can now all rest easy ... just one point as they are not building at the current time why would they want more sales people ?
