Some guests who want to rent our apartment need access to the internet from the apartment. I have asked a few people their opinion and it would appear that you can buy a dongle from Dos Mares. There is a bit of doubt about whether or not it will work everywhere on Roda. We are in a penthouse on Phase 2. Does anyone have any experience of using one on this phase?

Hi
I haven,t actually tried this, but T-Mobile do a dongle and you can add european coverage on it for set amounts. You can get information on their web site regarding how many minutes you get. Of all our english networks for mobile phones I found that t-mobile gets the best reception at Roda, we are also on phase 2 penthouse apt. Hope this is of some help to you.
Regards Jimal

We have an Orange 3G dongle and reception is PANTS.
The 3G braodband option does not work in our 1st floor apt on phase 2. Only get dial -up speed - but it's better than nothing and having to traipse all the way to the club house

When trying to buy a Payg dongle from the Phone Shop in Dos Mares the assistant was able to check Roda's address and told me that Orange would not work especially from Phase2.
Hope this helps.

Hi everyone - just thought that I'd let you know that dongle usage is getting better on Roda.
I used my Spanish Orange dongle today on both phase 2 & 3b.
Phase 2 - we're a 1st floor apartment round the middle pool and managed to get a 3G signal. Connected at 512k (1/2 mb) which is heaps better than the 56k of 12 months ago.
Phase 3b - in block 90 facing the 1st green I was getting full3G connectivity with speeds in excess of 2.6Mb.
So things are improving

Hi
I bought a dongle and wireless router from Europa Network, told me it uses the Orange network. Various speed test show over 2mb connection inside and outside in Los Narajos. Works great on Skype video (main reason for getting it).
Only problem is sometimes the connection to the internet drops, still connected to 3G but unable to access the internet. Dont know if its a dongle or Orange problem. Does any one else have this problem?
Thanks

It is a wifi dongle that operates on a sim card. Battery operated and in theory can connect to 8 different wifi enabled devices, but would be very slow. In the UK Three have a similar unit called mifi (mobile wifi).
Price is very steep as I pay £10 for 15gb per month. I think it is 7.2mb connection as well.
Data roaming is very expensive, you would think multi-nationals like Orange/Vodafone would let contracts be portable in europe.
