If they were locked up - they'd be cut open. Such a shame... I could do so much good with those pitches.

Who's ready for another campaign? Wake up those presidents?

We have just got back today and i was going to raise this issue. As you say, the pitches are a disgrace.
I seem to recall something being agreed to take over the pitches, which i think were/are owned by irm. If my memory is correct, what happened? If i'm mistaken, is it possible to get some agreement from irm or if they are already owned by the community, surely they should be being looked after anyway.

I too understood that the land was being given across to the community (or access granted) if the community would maintain it.

Before we give the presidents too much grief it might not be as simple as we all think.  Some people raised the issue of insurance/liability if the community took it over.  There are ongoing threads about some gardens which are in need of "upgrades" plus the ever present issue of all the non-payers which may mean there are other priorities for the limited funds we have.

AS FAR AS I AM AWARE MILENIUM AND ANY OTHER COMPANY MUST HAVE PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE WHICH IS USUALLY NOT TO EXPENSIVE AND SURELY WE CAN SPEAK WITH THEM AND FIND OUT THE LEGALITIES BUT THIS CAN BE OVERCOME I AM SURE.

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THERE IS A DESIRE FROM QUITE A FEW PEOPLE TO HAVE THE FOOTBALL PITCHES IN GOOD WORKING ORDER AND WE SHOULD BE PUTTING PRESSURE ON WHOEVER TO MAKE SURE THAT WE GET EXACTLY THAT AS WE WERE TOLD THE PITCHES WOULD BE KEPT IN GOOD WORKING ORDER.I REALISE THAT NOT EVERYONE USES THE PITCHES AND NEVER WILL BUT SURELY IT IS IN EVERYONES INTEREST NOT TO HAVE KIDS PLAYING FOOTBALL IN THE JARDINES OR WORSE IN THE CAR PARKING AREAS WHERE KIDS CAN BE HURT AND VEHICLES DAMAGED.

HAS ANYONE ANY IDEA HOW TO SORT THIS ? (PERHAPS A PRESIDENT CAN HELP ?).

Hi Guys

Got this started last year and have 125 signed up already. Never actually handed it over to Milenium becuase at the the time we were collecting signatures they came out and said that they'd been given the responsabilty of the pitches and intended to get them sorted. Looks like they were not be totally upfront with us at that point.

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/condadopitches/

Let's see if we can get a few more names on there and then hand it in to Milenium/IRM or whoever ultimately is in charge of the pitches.

I've stuck the link on both the FB pages so lets hope we get some more.

Cheers

Jay

I don't want to cause a stir - and may have my facts wrong so please correct me if you know better...

But I spoke to Mileniun and what I was told was that... IRM have granted permission of use and maintainence.

The gardening company then offered the pitches to be included in their charges for the resort... so basically offering to do it for free.

Mileniun then relayed this information to the presidents who didn't believe Mileniun and thought they were duping them out of money.

Now this may have been abit twisted or whatever, but what comes to mind is that there are serious mis communication issues between Presidents and Mileniun, AND/OR the football pitches are just not high enough on the agenda.

This is so ridiculous. As I could bring so much business to the resort, and organise some epic events for the kids as part of Condado Sports.

As I have been doing the kids sports and Easter activities this week I have been asked so many times and spoken to numourous parents about it. The best option we have come out with is gathering a large group of volunteers together, raise some cash, get some sponsers or whatever and do some repairs. Then.... leave the maintainence for the gardeners. How does this sound?

That's mental Sara

Why would they turn down a freebie down like that. If my president or any president for that matter was responsible for something like that I for one would like a sit down meet with them and Milenium to see what was on offer and why we can't enhance our resort.

If the gardening/maintenance people have offered to include it for free maybe we could set up a group like you said and approach them direct. If they really want to prove that they meant it and to increase their PR maybe it would serve them very well in the long term plus it would also prove to our our "non beleiving" presidents that Milenium/gardening contractors are not stitching any one up!!!!!!!

Failing all that they could at least quote for upkeep.

Cheers

Jay

Sorry Sara but you do indeed have your facts completely wrong.

Last year when IRM said we could use the pitches Mileniun informed the presidents that the community could use them as long as we maintained them. At the time the initial info from Mileniun did not mention who would carry the cost so there was obviously some discussions about this before they actually told the presidents that it would be done by CIS free of charge. As you correctly say, a problem caused by the usual misunderstanding due to incomplete information from mileniun.

CIS only offered to cut the grass twice a year free of charge, the next time will be July. The long term issue of fully maintaining the pitches will have to be looked at but at the moment there is not a budget item for this work.

Thanks Phil

I know from you've said there's no budget item for the pitches currently but was there ever any mention of the potential costs and if so how much?

Cheers

Jay

Would it really cost that much for ML to add the upkeep in to there condado contract

they have the manpower and equipment on site

these pitches would be a big benefit for the condado and the  children who have put up with so few  facilities over the last few years

this problem should of been addressed a long time ago its what the owners want so ML and the presidents should give it serious consideration ( we cant have resort with out a safe children's football /play area)  .

Just a thought,, now that we have more facilities on site there must be a market for example Scandinavian football teams looking for training facilities when their pitches are frozen in the winter period. If the pitches were brought up to standard surely it would be an asset for the resort. I am sure some of our Norwegian & Danish friends could use this as a bonus to aquire more rental potential.

PHIL

I OFTEN READ THIS FORUM AND YOU ARE ONE THAT I FIND TO BE VERY FAIR AND WELL INFORMED. IS IT POSSIBLE FOR YOU OR ONE OF THE PRESIDENTS ON THE FORUM TO ASK THE QUESTION AS TO HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST FOR THE UPKEEP OF THE PITCHES ?

Robbo. I am here now and have played the game at a good standard!

The pitches are dead with no grass and the only way to get them back is to either turf and spend big or all weather grass.

There is no quick cheap fix IMO!

To play on them now WILL result in injuries!!!

Could anyone out there do a little bit of investiagting maybe with the garden contractors as to what we'd be looking at cost wise for sorting out the pitches and returning them to their former glory and what the ongoing maintenance charge might be?

At least then we'd know roughly what we would have to come up with for funding and for sponsorship purposes. I might know someone that would be interested but obviosly they must know what the costs are likely to be.

PS We now have nearly 150 signatures supporting this issue. Does anyone have any ideas how to take it to the next stage?

Cheers

Jay

Jay,

I'd say you'd want to get some of the level 2&3 presidents on board and get it raised by them.  Ask if they could agree at one of their meetings to formally ask ML to cost it.

Previous post mentioned teams using the site as training camp.

I had a football team (20 man squad + staff) booked into a few apartments last summer for a pre season training camp and had to cancel due to the condition of the training pitches. Not good for the reputation of the site!
